Just returned from 10 days at this hotel. Very pleased from the beginning, 7th Floor room with a large living space, kitchen with separate bedroom with an en-suite and another shower room, large balcony overseeing the sea. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is right on the sea front so a room with a sea view is highly recommended. The only downside I would say to the room is that we wanted a double bed however was met with two single put together which wasnt too great as I was sharing with my girlfriend. Also the found the furniture ( bed and sofa's) quite hard and uncomfortable, we didn't sleep through a full night due to be uncomfortable.
The hotel was mainly elder couples and a few families, we are in our very early 20's so were quite the youngest parties without their parents but nonetheless still enjoyed our stay. The weather was pleasant throughout the trip with a slight heavier wind on some days but expected right on the coast. A lot of restaurants located in the small town canico de baixo, with special recommendations to Lee Hamiliton's Steak House, but also lots of places to eat in the capital Funchal, which is accessible from the hotel courtesy bus which is free and easy. booking is recommended beforehand as may fill up but if so the local bus is only 2 euro's and quite straightforward.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel and on the island which activities such as scuba diving, dolphin watching, snorkelling, mountain bike riding, museums and lots of restuarants. I would definitely recommend this to hotel and resort to anyone

Friendly staff
Great location, with sea view rooms
On wind calm days you can swim in the sea from the hotel which is fun!

had a great time there. Rooms cleaned everyday , which is important.
Good connection to the bus station, and a shuttle service avaible.

It's an amazing hotel!!! Please make sure you chose a room with the sea view. This is a breathtaking experience. You have an impression like you are taking a longlasting cruise, as the ocean is all around and so close, the boats and ferries happen to pass by your window. Very nice staff. Relatively close to the city centre. You can take a hotel bus to get there easily. Tavernas with fresh cuisine are located nearby. You can take a walk to one of the main Madeira attractions - Christo Rei. Absolutely recommended!

Just come back from a wonderful stay at the Royal Orchid. The room was wonderful large with a descent size and equipped kitchen and a large balcony which looks out over the ocean. The rooms a spotlessly clean. Reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was ok with a reasonable selection. Had dinner on the first night which was ok. The adjacent Hotel has an excellent restaurant. Also there are plenty of decent restaurants nearby. The hotel is also well equipped with two swimming pools one inside and one out, a Jacuzzi sauna and fully equipped gym. The hotel is in a good location 15 mins from airport and about 20-25 mins from Funchal. There is a free shuttle bus to Funchal that runs 3 Times a day but must be booked in advance to guarantee a place. Within a 5 minutes walk is a bus stop with about an hourly service into Funchal some of them are express service. Looking forward to returning soon.
