This is a very good restaurant as far as the food is concerned, and is well patronised by the local population - if our visit is anything to go by. Al Gambero is in no way a pretencious place - there are, quite simply, high standards of food presentation.
We enjoyed our seafood, and veal (mine), and the local (?) wine a Cabernet Franc was amongst some of the best we have tasted in Italy. However I could not get over the feeling that we were somehow intruding, ... if not, well, a bit in the way. This was due to the very large parties of local people enjoying themselves, that arrived after us. We also had unbelieveable differculties in actually getting someone to give us the bill, and then take our money.
I think that we were seen as a problem rather than customers, which was a shame as the food was excellent. Maybe on a quieter night this otherwise excellent restaurant would have been more enjoyable.
