Nice well maintained trails, do not recommend going after dark. Pet friendly. A mix of sun and shade, places to sit in certain areas. Some places along the trail have places you can walk down to the river. Great place to have picnic as well.

This trail is great for walker, runners, bikers - great to explore the James River by the extensive path.

We only were on a short portion of the trail. We got to witness the reality of the sign that says, "This is a live track". A local freight came right up and parked a for a while. We only walked the trail as we waited for our table at The Depot.

This is a beautiful, paved walking, bicycle trail that crosses over the James River on an old railroad bridge and leads you onto an island in the middle of the river. Trees abound so there is plenty of shade. Very peaceful and enjoyable. A perfect place to bring children, and older adults for a walk in nature, but on blacktop.

I love to go jogging here with my daughter. The path is safe and open and great for biking as well. If you want a nice place for just a casual walk I highly recommend the scenery on the trail
