This is a great little trail, access to the river with a great mix of sun and shade. There is access to walk down to the river. Great trail for kids and pets alike.

Easily accessible from historic downtown, walk across a sturdy rails-to-trails bridge and you are on the island. A wide, paved path goes straight up the middle of the island with wide, shoulders, giving all users - walkers, runners, dog-walkers and cyclists - plenty of room to maneuver and see what is coming and going. The trail goes on as you leave the end of the island via another bridge if you want to extend your walk another couple of miles. On the island, there are a few “natural” spur trails where you can leave the pavement and get closer to the water.
