This was our fourth stay at New River Trail Cabins since 2008, and the longest at five days. The cabins have been maintained in pristine condition over the years. We went with friends this time and all had a great time. Perfect place for reunions, and kids (and adults) have plenty of space to run around in and play. The owner/managers are friendly and responsive. So much to do in the area--biking, hikking, floating down the creek, music locally and up on the Parkway, etc. Very relaxing as well to just sit and read on the back porches (on all cabins) looking out over the creek. All around, excellent!

We just returned from a short trip to enjoy our bikes on the New River Trail. We stayed in the cabins for two nights. The cabin was extremely clean, and location was perfect for our needs. There was direct access to the New River Trail near the Galax starting point. The location was only about 1/2 mile off the main roads in Galax, and was within a mile of some great restaurants. That being said, it was quiet, secluded and perfect for our needs. We will stay there again.

Great place to stay. Very clean with easy access. Close to downtown but super quiet. Would highly recommend. Beautiful creek behind cabin and walking trail also. Easy reservation and communication with details about your stay. Had a great time.

This is our second time visiting the beautiful New River Trail Cabins. The accommodations are stunning. Chestnut Creek is a peaceful place to relax and be. Feels like one is way out of town, yet The cabins near downtown Galax for great live music and dining. Looking forward to another weekend getaway.

The New River Trail Cabins have everything that one could need for an active, fun-filled vacation. The New River Trail passes next to the cabins, granting easy access. You can rent kayaks, canoes, tubes, and bikes several miles away in the town of Fries. In addition, the cabins are a short walk to the "Bottom" neighborhood in Galax, containing the excellent Creek River Bottom Brewery. For nights when you don't want to go out, the cabins possess a small, but well-appointed kitchen (fridge, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate) as well as a grill. Despite the cabins' proximity to town, I didn't notice any road noise during my stay, only birdsong and the sound of the adjoining creek. The cabins are clean, well-maintained, and contain all the amenities one would expect and then some (such as a working fireplace). My partner and I have now stayed at the cabins two times and we will likely do so again in the future. My only complaint is that the cabins do not allow dogs, although the reasons for doing so are understandable.

Room tip: For maximum privacy, select a cabin at the end of the road.
