Stayed a week in November. Back from a year ago. Still fresh and new. Slight upgrade on breakfast. Real Bacon and real sausage. Much nicer. Globalist gets breakfast free, but there was something in elevator saying some status was necessary... probably just the free Hyatt membership. At $113 for a specious room, if you overlook the lake... its quite beautiful... prices of course vary. This was AAA price, slightly better than membership price. Staff warm and helpful. Front desk can get crowded because there is no room service, only a "food supply" behind the front desk... but that desk food has been upgraded and I found it to be pretty good. Enormous parking lot... free parking and easy access. A little hard to find going around a road that does not have access to free way, but once you learn where it is... no hardship. In the back of the hotel one of the most desirable parts... a bridge crossing a handsome body of water, with fountains leading to an upscale shopping center.

Room tip: make sure your room view faces the lake.

It’s been a while since I’ve stayed at this Hyatt. My room was very spacious and clean. I was on the 6th floor with a good view of the water. It was pleasantly quiet. The only disappointment was the breakfast, it wasn’t your typical Hyatt quality food or taste. Definitely the food consistency was different each day. Otherwise the staff was friendly.

Dear 465lauraannw,

There is no opinion as important than that of our guest. We appreciate your positive review. Our Breakfast changed on November 1st to a more healthier option. Our eggs are cage free REAL eggs, not frozen or powered. We hope you enjoyed the fresh fruits! We hope to see you again on your next trip to Sugar Land.

Upon entering the lobby, you see and feel it is warm and friendly. The desk is curved from the elevator corridor to the breakfast room, not squared off and stiff feeling. The staff is welcoming and friendly from the moment you walk up to the desk. The rate is very competitive for above average rooms.

Down side: Towels are thin, the vanity counter around the sink small and the closet, well, don’t bring too many clothes.

Up side: Everything worked right, the room was super clean every day, the building has great sound-deadening, the bed was comfortable, and the wi-fi worked great. Express checkout worked perfectly.

Special up side: Buffet breakfast was on par with the best with a wide variety of fresh fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, pancakes or waffles, biscuits & gravy, you name it. It was all GOOD.

If you are anywhere near Sugar Land, this is a great place to stay.

Room tip: Choose a room on an upper floor (9 floors) facing the lake for a sweet morning and evening view.

We were in Houston {Sugar Land} to visit an ill friend. We needed a quiet respite while we were there. I checked about 30 hotels in the area and found Hyatt Place, not through the regular hotel search engines, but through Trip Advisor It gave it the #1 value hotel rating in Sugar Land. Doing my own research, I found this to be the best option for our family, and as a Trip Advisor occasional reviewer, I trust the opinions shared here. The three of us had a room large enough for three adults, a lake view, a hotel that, although 8 years old, looked amazingly brand new, with every amenity you would expect to find in a hotel that cost much more. A great stay, one that we will repeat each time we come. Thank you, Trip Advisor, for the recommendation. I am now paying it forward.
