We've just returned from our umpteenth stay at Parque Santiago 3. It was our first visit since the changes to the road layout along the 'Golden Mile'. Walk ways are now a lot wider and in most places there are no kerbs, which will make life much easier for people with limited mobility. The downside of the changes is an almost total lack of street parking at or near PS3. Worth bearing in mind if you plan to rent a car.
The apartment we had in Fuengirola block had been recently refurbished and was immaculate throughout. The kitchen has a full oven and induction ring hob. The kettle was incredibly quick to boil - I hadn't used an induction hob before and was also impressed at how quickly the hob cooled after use too. Beds were comfortable, as was all the seating in the living area. There was a new shower cubicle with a fairly powerful shower, and we never experienced any shortage of hot water.
The room safe has also been replaced and no longer uses the drop-in device to activate, so those who have kept that in the past in order to get free use of the safe on the next visit are going to be disappointed. The charge for the safe has increased to 3 euro per night! To me that is excessive, but there is little option but to pay if you want to keep important documents safe. There is now free internet in the apartment which is a great improvement.
There is a lot of refurbishment going on in the apartment blocks at present so it can be a bit noisy. We didn't find it a problem but those with young children might.
Prices in the on-site bars are still on the high side, and bar staff not the friendliest!
As the location suits us perfectly we will certainly be returning.

Have been staying here twice a year over these past 12 years. Just love everything about this place. The position of it, the cleanliness, the large pools, the abundance of loungers etc. But unfortunately this recent visit we had dinner in the Atlantico restaurant on site. So disappointing. It has taken on more of a school canteen look rather than the pleasant atmosphere it once had. And the sparrows!. They were able to fly in and out : eat of the floor and tables. It was so unhygienic. Surely it would be easy to close up the door with screening etc. I do hope so.

We stayed with our grandsons (ages 9 and 7) for a week's self catering stay at Parque Santiago 3 via Jet2 Holidays. Initially thought we were staying in PS4 and was massively disappointed when we received an email saying that the big pool had been closed for a refurb (odd time to do it in the middle of the Easter holiday). Anyway, despite trying to book in there on arrival (having been dropped off there by the transfer coach) we were told we were in PS 3 (a short walk away) - happy days; all pools were fully operational.

Our one-bedroom apartment was clean and tidy on arrival. We let the boys have the mezzanine bedroom so we had the lounge / balcony area to sit on a night when they were in bed. This also meant they got the wardrobe and bathroom, and we got the bed settee in the lounge.

Our apartment was on the 4th floor (2nd floor by lift) of the Tenerife block. Access to the lift was via a flight of stairs. We are all able-bodied, but for guests with mobility issues, or families with pushchairs etc,, this will have been a real issue (and a total no-go for wheelchair users).

The bedroom was clean and comfortable? The bathroom was also clean but very dated and shabby, and desperately in need of a refurb. The bath, with shower over, was set long-ways on under a sloping roof. My 6ft 4" husband had real problems, banging his head on the ceiling and the shower curtain track. The shower head, at its highest, came to his shoulder.

The kitchen area had a fridge, oven, hob, toaster, coffee maker etc., and a good range of crockery, pots and pans. I managed to cremate everything I put in the oven, but that was probably due to my incompetence rather than the oven. Everything seemed to function well.

The lounge area had a table and four chairs, tv, the bed settee, two arm chairs and a coffee table. There was a small cupboard with shelves at the bottom of the stairs for some of our clothes. The balcony also had sufficient space to eat with a table and four chairs.

Our view from the balcony was over the children's pool with all the slides and play equipment, we also had glimpses of the sea.

Some of the above sounds very negative, but it shouldn't. While it does need modernisation, the apartment was clean and comfortable, and quiet at night so we all got a good nights sleep.

The pools were fab. The boys loved the slide pool which was fresh-water and warmer than the other, deeper, saltwater pools. There were always plenty of sunbeds available and you collected an umbrella from a storage box and again there were always plenty available.

The nearby beach was lovely. A sandy beach with man made breakwaters to form a safer swimming area. Sunbeds were 6 euros each. The succession of guys selling colourful cotton throws to sit on the sand rapidly became a bit of a pain, although they all took rejection with a smile. The beach has lifeguards on duty.

The local shops were good. The supermarket, just over the road from the hotel, was fully stocked with just about everything you could need and was very clean.

Security in the hotel complex was highly visible with a security man on Reception, security guards on segways patrolling the site and hotel lifeguards / security posted at pools and patrolling the pool areas, stopping any infringement of the safety rules with a whistle.

The boys loved the hotel, beach and especially the pools. This is defintately a child-friendly hotel and area.

Stayed here with family & friends with children ranging from 8 to 12. Was dissapointed that although we were all on the same booking, we were split up over 2 hotels. Our room was overlooking the street & we had a large balcony & 2 bedrooms. The beds were so uncomfortable, and slid across the floor if you tried to sit up & lean against the headboard! the apartment was clean but quite dated & very basic. Our daughter had an amazing view from her apartment which was on the seafront but her room was even more dated & she was inundated with cockroaches! We didn't have any bother getting sun beds & they were cleaned regularly, however the weather was not great so don't know what the sunbed situation would be on a hot day. The slide pool is amazing for the children & is supposed to be heated but it was freezing & we was told it wasn't working properly! Overall the hotel is in a prime position & good for children but I wouldn't go for an adult only holiday & didn't really think it was worth what we pain for it.
