Owner description: Bayou Bend is the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's house museum for American decorative arts and paintings. Displayed in the former home of Houston civic leader and philanthropist Ima Hogg (1882-1975), the collection is one of the finest showcases of American furnishings, silver, ceramics, and paintings in the world. The house is situated on 14 acres of organically maintained gardens in Houston's historic River Oaks neighborhood.

Learn American history through arts and crafts. Highly recommend the 90 minute house tour to enjoy all the rooms. Stroll the lovely gardens at your leisure. Not crowded in late April but the flowers would have better earlier in spring.

Stopped in one afternoon and took a tour of the home and gardens. Home is beautiful and collection is extensive, the Docent giving the tour was very knowledgeable about the home and furnishings. Security if very tight and there are several guards throughout the home. The gardens are not very impressive. Very small and areas are roped off due to damage from the flood.

Stopped here to go for a walk and look at the gardens. The grounds were well kept and there were lots of things to see. Not many flowers were in bloom when we visited but, we'll be back.

We worth the fee to enter the Bayou Bend Gardens and visit the historic home. Fun and pleasing environment for a family visit.

We visited Bayou Bend on Saturday. I have wanted to visit for years and was not disappointed.

The home was built as a private residence, but now serves as the setting for an outstanding collection of American decorative arts. Very impressive. Admission includes an audio tour accessed through your smartphone. I can get a bit detailed, but you don’t have to listen to every entry. Bring your earbuds! Don’t listen on speaker; very annoying.

The visitor center does a good job of explaining the genesis of the mansion, the gardens and the collection. There is a small gift shop at the visitor center.

We walked over a suspension bridge and climbed stairs. Check about special access if this is a problem.

The gardens are impressive, but unfortunately we were there just after the azaleas shed their blooms. They are still very impressive.
