“Great Girlfriends Galveston Getaway!”
Reviewed 21 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We had a Girlfriends Weekend over the extended MLK weekend, and it was everything we needed to recharge and reconnect. The weather was perfect on Friday so we got some beach time in, the rest of the weekend was alternately rainy, cold and sunny. The house is in the perfect location, just far enough away from Galveston traffic but close enough to run into town to hit the antique shops and restaurants. We were all very comfortable with plenty of beds, the bathrooms were big enough for 4 women and their "stuff", and the kitchen being open to the living room is a great feature for keeping everybody in the conversation. The sunlight coming through the living room windows was great, even if it was cold outside we didn't care. Every morning we bundled up and took long walks on the beach, which is just a few steps away from the back porch. The owners are great, very helpful in recommending places close to the house, and everything in the house was exactly as described. We all added to our collections of seashells and great memories.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review, Shannon! It sounds like you ladies had a marvelous time and that you sought out some of the island treasures -- both in the Gulf and in the downtown shops! I can't wait to see your name on my reservation list again. :-)

“BEST destination for girls weekend!”
Reviewed 20 January 2016 for a stay in October 2015

I and four girlfriends enjoyed a long weekend at Southern Exposure in late October. While the sun eluded us all weekend, we found the house to be very charming and comfortable and there was plenty to do near the house. We loved the fact that the kitchen was well stocked with gadgets and the beds and baths comfortable. It was an adventure to say the least, as there was a hurricane moving across Mexico at the time, so the tide was up, but we felt very safe and secure. Already planning another trip to stay prior to hopping on a cruise ship. This is a great house for family and friends to enjoy the quiet and the beautiful beach!

“Back to the Beach”

I’ve rented places from Savannah, Georgia to Reykjavik, Iceland, and I’ve found the best among them have a few unmistakable common denominators that make a house, however temporarily, a home: An attentive but wisely unobtrusive owner, a convenient location, a high degree of cleanliness, a physical plant in good working order, and a price that’s a reasonable as the home is comfortable. In all these, I have to give Linda and Southern Exposure top marks.

I came here to both work and relax –and found it the perfect choice for both. Located on the West End in the Sea Isle section, the house is bathed in sunlight Monet would have painted, and surrounded by an ocean view you can’t get outside of a private yacht. The incredible deck, which wraps halfway around the house, is lovely for morning coffee and nighttime cocktails, as well as an inspiring place to work, which the reliable Wi-Fi made easy.

This split-level beach home is in pristine condition. It has a full-size kitchen that comes with coffee maker, coffee, filters, microwave, toaster, ice maker, blender, dishware, utensils, and appliances. The comfy master bedroom offered quality linens, and better-than-hotel pillows. The den area, which could probably comfortably handle several people with ease, was a perfect place to relax and watch the satellite TV. The furniture throughout the house is exceptionally tasteful, and equally comfortable. Bathrooms come with towels, and a hairdryer. Water pressure, sometimes a problem with places I’ve stayed in near the sea, was excellent.

When I wanted to, I hiked over to the nearby pool, pier, tennis court, playground, and marina, all within 1.5 miles of the house. It’s a pleasant walk or a very quick drive to them. The Strand Historic District in downtown Galveston, with the Texas Seaport Museum, Tall Ship ELISSA, and restaurants from Mexican to Greek, is about a 20-minute drive away, too. But I spent most of my free time just stretching my legs on the beach, collecting seashells the color of Skittles, listening to the soothing lullaby of the surf, as if I had my own private ocean. This is a bit of paradise whose pleasures are sky-high but whose price is down to Earth.

“An incredible place to relax and recharge”
Reviewed 28 December 2015 for a stay in September 2015

What a great find on the beach... the house is beautiful and comfortable, the owners are nice to work with, and the view from every window is stunning. Walk the beach to go shelling at sunrise, soak up sun on the patio with a cocktail in the afternoon, and let the waves lull you to sleep at night -- this is the kind of place you wished you lived in, and it's a hard one to leave.
