The park is settled among wooded, gently sloping terrain. Native oak and juniper surround the upper campsites, but note that sites closer to the waterfront are in full sun.

The park and campground is open year-round. It offers family RV and tent sites, overnight screened shelters, and a group site, all with electric and water hookups. Picnic tables, fire rings, and grills are provided.

Amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, and two dump stations. The park also has two boat ramps with docks, a fishing pier and beach. Rangers patrol the park and hosts are on-site year-round.

Spent three nights at Potter's Creek on Canyon Lake. Had site 92, which is right on the lake, or where the lake would be if it weren't down so far. There's no shade on this site and even in the first weekend of November, shade would have been advantageous. The picnic table is covered though.

Bathrooms were huge and clean. And the views and easy access to the lake give this campground top marks.

The only ding I would give for this place is the water was turned off at the dump station so I couldn't rinse out my sewer hose when through dumping.

Camping in an RV at this site is one of the best! We paid $24 a night. Has water and electric hookups, so no sewer. But we did just fine. Restrooms were very clean. The first come, first serve sites fill up quick during summer months. So it's best to go early in the week to reserve your favorite spot, but you will have to pay for all nights reserved. When we arrived (Thursday at 3pm), almost all RV sites were taken except the ones in the sun (no shade). We actually didn't mind since we came prepared with an Easy-Up tent and a tarp to go along with the covered picnic table and our awning.
The camp host was pretty lenient as far as the rules go. We had 3 vehicles, camper, and a boat at our site.
The beach area could have been better. The grass was overgrown and not maintained very well. For a Corp of Engineers park, I was expecting a better swim area.
Overall we enjoyed this trip and will definitely be back soon! We were told once school starts the shaded sites won't fill up. We're looking forward to a fall trip!

My wife and I have stayed there numerous times. The sites are very large. The bathrooms are always clean and the staff are friendly. Lake access is excellent.
