I booked a room at The Madison months ago. I lived in Memphis for several years and while there heard only good things about the Madison. When I arrived I was told at the front desk that there were no bar or kitchen services available to guests. They were under construction. After spending over $700 for two nights one might expect a complimentary bottle of something in the room to make apologies for the lack of services. The construction team also used the guest elevators to move equipment between floors. I guess the Madison doesn’t have a freight elevator either. The room was nothing special. I will not stay at The Madison again, nor will I recommend it to friends. Next trip it’s The Peabody for sure.

Thank you for staying with us and for sharing the details of your stay, so that we can improve the guest experience. Moving forward, we will check with early reservations to confirm that all have received notice of the current renovations with their confirmation email.

A new hotel will be opening late summer, with a thorough redesign and new restaurants and rooftop bar. We hope to welcome you back for a much better experience on your next Memphis visit. Please feel free to reach out if returning to Memphis.

All the best,
Damien

I can see the potential for next year. Under refurbishment, they've reduced staff and I expect that with expanded staff things will improve. The building and art deco style is cool. The contractors were pretty quiet. The restaurant and bar are closed. House keeping didn't come thru until mid/late afternoon so put the "do not disturb" sign out as would have been an interference with plans.

I stayed one night and although the staff was helpful, I wasnt notified that the restaurant was closed due to renovations. I didnt hear any noise because was there Sunday-Monday. The room was beautiful and clean however.

This is our third stay at The Madison Hotel. Yes, they are under renovation, but we never heard any noise! Also, the website stated the restaurant and Twilight Bar were closed, and the staff informed us upon check-in and offered us menus of places that delivered. Our newly renovated room was very nice and we had a view of the river. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Every time we passed through the lobby someone at the desk said hello and most remembered our name! It is more expensive, but you get the luxury of not being too near all of the noise and craziness that is Beale Street. It's an easy walk to everything we wanted to see.

Room Tip: River view rooms are the best!

The rooms we had, yes rooms, we moved because there was a bath leak, were lovely. Very comfortable and recently renovated. There were renovations going on in the hotel, however this did not disturb us, other than sharing the lift with tradesmen. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from downtown, we always walked together and ensured we walked on the main streets. My main concerns are the reception staff, they still have $1200 of our money that we can't use even though we checked out 2 weeks ago. They assure us in 10 business days it will be returned. I have found each time I've spoken to the reception staff, even when we were staying at the hotel, that they were condesending and rude. The photographs do not match reality. The upstairs outdoor area is in total ruin. There is no way you could use it at all. The advertised restaurant is not in use at all. I would go elsewhere.

Ms. R.,

Thank you for staying with us and sharing the details -- so glad you were able to experience one of the new, renovated rooms. We apologize for the extensive work being done on the rooftop and restaurant spaces during your stay; we are working to remove photos of pre-renovation spaces.

Please feel free to contact me anytime if there are outstanding issues. We do hope you will visit again for a better experience as our new hotel opens late this summer.

All the best,
Damien
