“Perfect retreat”
Reviewed 4 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

This is a beautifully presented, homely and comfortable flat; the rear part of a substantial period building, stylishly refurbished, sunny and very well equipped. (Smart coffee machine, good ceramic hob, full size fridge and dishwasher). It is quiet and totally private, with hosts who are ready to help but not intrude, and is perfectly situated as a base to explore the Borders.
We were greeted warmly on Boxing Day and welcomed with a homemade Christmas stollen and a pinta in the fridge - a very nice touch after a long journey. There is more space than we expected from the listing, and wifi no problem in the specified areas. We'd downloaded a few programmes onto an iPad, so didn't miss telly at all. As others have said, the bed is super-comfy, and we did catch up on much needed sleep too.
We would definitely recommend the Gardener's Lodging as an ideal getaway, and would love to have stayed longer this time. Although I didn't make use of the offered sewing room on this occasion, I might on another visit - how lovely to get on with a project uninterrupted!

Liked best: It was the home from home we would like to live in!
Liked least: An outside light on arrival is the only improvement I can think of.

“Great value for money - would recommend!”
Reviewed 14 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

We stayed for two nights. Great accommodation which was well equipped and cosy. Flowers, pack of biscuits and coffee were nice touches. Very central to Duns. Only minor things which could improve things - it doesn't have a TV, we'd brought some dvd's to watch at night but wasn't an issue. I would def come back - very good value for money.

“Comfortable, well-equipped and convenient location”
Reviewed 2 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

The accommodation was cosy, comfortable and very well equipped, including lots of information about places to visit in the area. It's location was ideal for touring the Scottish Borders and north Northumberland. The owners are very welcoming - the flowers and chocolate cake were a lovely surprise - happy to help with any query. Duns is a quaint town with plenty of local amenities. We will definitely book Gardener's Lodging the next time we visit the area.

“Great place for visiting the (Eastern) Borders”
Reviewed 3 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

This property was really well situated for visiting both South Eastern Scotland and northern Northumberland. It was pleasantly quiet and secluded yet within easy reach of all the facilities in Duns. We had a really enjoyable week.

“Exceptionally well appointed accommodation and most considerate hosts”

We recommend this beautifully situated and well equipped suite, without reservation. It is comfortably furnished, by friendly hosts, who are most attentive to guests needs. Situated in a rear extension to an 18th century manor house, the suite is very private and surrounded by a lovely garden. What a wonderful place in which to relax and enjoy the country!
