river and the golf course. The hot tub was great it is very enjoyable to be able to relax after a day of walking, unfortunately even if it has crystal clear water, the bottom feels gritty, not a nice feeling, its not dirt probably just deposit from hard water. The 3 stars are because you can relax but sleep is not as easy, the main bed squeaks! Every time you turn you hear the noise, also there are no black outs in the window and at this time of year it is very light early on so impossible to have a good night of sleep. The town is lovely, you can visit many beautiful places near by and the food in the hotel across the road is really good.
When I booked I had the feeling it was an isolated place but what you do not see on the pictures is that there are houses really close to the right and to the left, you can hear a normal voice conversation from next door and your deck is in full view from the other side.
As a personal note, we had an unexpected event coming and ask the owner to change our dates for 4 week days (normally very quiet), when it was not booked. I know we were out of terms of contract but I also have a property in England that I rent and understand that sometimes people has problems and I try to help if possible. Well, this was not the case, she was very polite but made no effort to help us.
First impression was that this was high standard, very clean and well organised. Hot tub outside was actually a suprisingly nice way to spend an afternoon in the rain with a 5yr old and 1yr old both loving it (temperature 37-38 degrees was perfect).
Good points continue with their location (pub across the road starts serving evening meals at 6pm, but is good food/ambiance) Killin has more places to eat, Auchingarrich wildlife centre about 40min drive a really good day out. Aberfeldy also 40minutes, walking range of Ben Lawers 20min away (where we had an amazing time because of all the snow - helped by our 4x4 to get there though!). Excellent communication, cot, high chair etc.
Bad points (minor) - the lodge was marginally too hot for us, which we thought felt a bit wrong, our bathroom was at 24 degrees?!, and recycling of things is minimal (bottle bank only). Would be nice to be a bit more "eco". Could do with more crockery, especially bowls (there were only 4) to save washing up.
But whatever an amazing place, enjoy it all.
Came to the lodge in need of a break. The lodge did not disappoint.
The place was spotless and under floor heating meant no socks were needed lol.
Hot tub at night with a glass of bubbly went down a treat. Hotel across the road was excellent as was the little village of Killin which was a nice 1 mile stroll.
Just spent weekend with family at lodges in Killin celebrating 60th birthdays of my husband & me. Lodges are of very high standard with everything that you need and beautiful views, will certainly be back.
