This hotel was booked a long time ago, otherwise would have read the latest reviews and gone elsewhere. The setting is lovely. Getting there not so much. Hard to fine, road full of pot holes. The rooms were large, but pillows uncomfortable. No screens on the windows and due to the hot weather, we needed to get some air circulating so left the windows open. No internet, which is ok if you are told that in advance. Breakfast was ok, dinner was way too salty and below average. Agree the food at the inn down the road has exceptionally good food. Once renovations are complete this might be a lovely place to stay. Agree the staff was very friendly and pleasant. They just need to get the renovations completed, don't advertise WiFi, and look for a better chef as the setting is beautiful.

The setting is beautiful, the building is half way renovated with unfinished rooms and decking. There is no phone signal and no WiFi for any length of time. The heating was on full blast when we went to the room on a very hot sunny day. The food was good.
We decided it was not for us and cancelled the second night. The manager was helpful in booking us alternative accommodation else where. We suggested they should not advertise having WiFi until it actually works, it seems this is along term issue for them.
Sad as the place has huge potential but it is just not ready. The prices are very high for the unfinished article. If you like being isolated and cut off from all forms of communication it might be ok. Very disappointed.

I really wanted to love this place based on its trip advisor reviews, but we were really disappointed. First, the very long single track road leading to it is poorly maintained and the potholes are large.
I know a heat wave is unusual but when we arrived the HEATER was on in our room even though it was sweltering outside! There is no fan in the room and the windows only open partway so there is no air circulation. The small amount of air that does come in is pungent from the constant smoke from the chimney. I understand that they burn wood for all of their heating and hot water needs, so it’s going 24/7 because they have to.
FYI the first floor room is up a flight of stairs!
The shower is terrible—the water was either ice cold or blistering hot. Very difficult to use (and we’ve experienced many different types of showers).
But the staff really shines! Everyone was friendly and attentive! The breakfast and dinner were both good and filling but nothing too special.
The WiFi is nonexistent, which is particularly upsetting since it is listed as an amenity. With no cell service because of its remote location dependable WiFi is a requirement, or say you don’t have it. That is a decision factor.
I can’t recommend this hotel, which is a first for me.

So looked forward to this part of holiday but afraid it’s a real let down

It’s half finished with bare electrical cables greeting you at reception door

Room ok but food was simply awful .. mainly because everything is done on the cheap .. travelodge does better breakfast - at least there’s fruit and the yoghurt isn’t presented in the Cash and Carry outer case !!

Don’t mind this if you are paying budget prices but for over £200 a night it’s a complete rip off.

The owner has obviously run out of cash and is clawing back by charging the earth for customers he knows won’t be coming back .. PLEASE read reviews before booking

Dinner at hotel next door was really good and reinforced what appalling value for money this is.

I like many others will never go back

This place is such a disappointment it could be so much better.
We stayed for two nights in sea view room and imagined that we would be able to sit in our room and look out at the beautiful Loch. That wasn't possible as the window is 5 feet above the floor!!
There is a window you can sit and look out of , but the view is directly into the room opposite.
We had dinner on our first night ,hoping to experience locally sourced produce, it may have been, but it was also bland and boring. Go to the hotel next door as we did on the second night.
The staff are not interested one bit, I felt we were an inconvenience to them.
Breakfast was unimaginative cereals and set cooked breakfasts , no fruit or porridge.
There is a large piano in the dining area, the notice on it sums up this place, it says:
Do not touch and do not ask to play!
DO NOT STAY HERE you will be disappointed .
