“Perfect - we couldn't have asked for anything more”

We struck gold when we chose the Tidal Cottage, we had a wonderful 3 nights here. The cottage is the perfect size for a couple. For the same price of a hotel room a stay here is fantastic value and we valued both the freedom and privacy it gave us.

On arrival the kitchen table had been laid out for two with two small bottles of white wine waiting for us - such an unexpected and thoughtful touch. Basics such as tea bags, coffee and milk were waiting for us which meant we could settle in instead of having to find a shop straight away. The kitchen has everything you need.

The location is amazing, easy to get to and near the bottom of the island, which was a relief as we drove from down south to get there. The view is heartbreakingly beautiful - it is as good, if not better than the pictures here. It was such a treat to wake up to the view or to to sit in bed or the roll top bath with a glass of wine looking out over it. We spent lots of time in the morning and evening taking photos. You can't usually continue the sight seeing once you get back to your accommodation!

Special mention for the wood burning stove, that made an evening in feel very special, and for the shower which is as spacious, powerful and as hot as they come.

We would thoroughly recommend the tidal cottage to anybody!

“Perfect cosy cottage”
Reviewed 27 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We booked Tidal Cottage for 4 nights in October 2013 and it was perfect, a fantastic base from which to explore Skye . The location is a good choice, just a few miles from the bridge meaning we were able to visit Plockton and the surrounding area on the mainland easily, as well as being within an hour or so's drive of the key tourist spots on the island.

The cottage looks very traditional but has all the mod cons to make your stay restful and relaxing. We particularly liked the underfloor heating, the roll top bath with a beautiful view of the water and mountains (we spent a lot of time in the bath!) as well as the log burner in the lounge. It's absolutely perfect for a couple - the cottage is effectively completely open plan but small enough to feel cosy at the same time.

The owners Rab and Janet were very welcoming and when we had a small problem with something in the cottage they went out of their way to get it fixed ASAP. They were genuinely determined that we had a comfortable, enjoyable stay and couldn't have done any more to make us feel welcome. Rab has some interesting stories about the cottage's restoration too!

All in all a wonderful break in a beautiful, homely cottage. If you are looking for a place to stay in Skye this is the one! Book it now, you will not be disappointed!

“Perfect Cosy Cottage!”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

Our 2 night stay at this lovely cottage was a last minute find for October and we couldn't have asked for anything more!

Beautifully located right on the water's edge, the cottage provides the perfect getaway in a peaceful setting. Tidal Cottage was a great base to explore the Isle of Skye - even though the weather wasn't great the cottage acted as a great retreat!

The attention to detail in the cottage made it feel like you were staying in more of a home that a holiday rental - the pictures on the website don't do it justice! A comfy bed, well equipped kitchen and amazing bathroom made this the perfect cottage. We particularly enjoyed sitting by the wood burner in the evening, and the view across the shore in the mornings whist we had breakfast were unrivalled.

We definitely regretted only booking the cottage for two days and will be recommending it to our friends and families. Don't hesitate to book this perfect little holiday retreat!

“Beautiful cottage, stunning views and well located.”
Reviewed 3 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Beautiful little cottage, recently refurbished so under-floor heating and redecoration a bonus! Large, well-equipped kitchen, milk in the fridge when we arrived.
Amazing sunset views from the front garden over the water to the mountains in the distance.
Really friendly owners, always ready to give advice but not crowd our holiday.

Breakish is close enough to Broadford to feel connected to shops - certainly walkable - but still feels remote and secluded.
Really enjoyed our stay - would definitely return.

“Don't hesitate to book this one!!”
Reviewed 31 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

What can I add to the previous reviews? all I can say is 'ditto'! I have stayed in many country cottages and tidal cottage surely must rate as one of the best. The cottage has been very recently renovated to a very high standard and the owners have obviously enjoyed taking the time and effort to getting it right. The fittings and decor, although new, work sympathetically with the old cottage giving modern comforts while retaining a 'cottagie feel'. The accomodation was very comfortable in all aspects, my wife particularly enjoyed relaxing in the bath tub with a glass of wine while enjoying the view out of the window. I meanwhile enjoyed leaning over the stable door with my binoculars soaking in the peace and quiet, the view and watching the birds. I was impressed by the small details the owners had taken to make our arrival welcoming, it's details like that which make difference between and ordinary cottage and a special one. The cottage was easy to find and very accessible from the mainland, we took the Armadale ferry going out and returned via the bridge both of which are a short drive away. Local facilities are nearby and adequate. We were only on skye for 3 days so didn't get the chance to do too much but we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We booked late and regard ourselves very fortunate to come across this real find. The owners were very pleasant and helpful and it is obvious that they make it their business to ensure visitors really enjoy their stay. I highly recommend this cottage.
