Just returned from a weeks stay at Blossom Cottage. What a super spacious home from home. We had a warm welcome from Julie who showed us how to start the log burner, whilst we managed to get heat I am not convinced we ever really mastered it properly. The cottage is both spacious and cosy with all the amenities of home, dish washer and wifi were God sends. The boys (8&4) loved seeing the cows pass by the window at breakfast time and the machinery working during the day on the new cow sheds ( machinery a temporary feature ).
The cottage is positioned beautifully for the local area, 10 mins drive to Maybole station, where you can get a train to Glasgow where you find some amazing museums and fabulous old and new architecture, Ayr seafront has a fabulous play park and lovely beach and heads of Ayr farm park is an amazing place for children. There was so much to do we didn't have time to fit it all in. On asking the children what they enjoyed the most they just said "all of it" after a week away from home that's credit to the area and cottage. when at the cottage there was plenty of space to play in and out doors, even a flat grassed area opposite the cottage for football. . The only down side was the tanker collecting milk in the early hours, ( to be expected on abusy working dairy farm), but we quickly got used to it and no longer disturbed me (light sleeper) after first couple of times, never disturbed the children. We highly recommend a holiday in this area and Blossom cottage.

“Great rural retreat”
Reviewed 13 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Blossom Cottage is a great holiday home deep in rural Ayrshire. Both bedrooms are good size and comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom are enormous. The living room is cosy and the log fire gives good warmth and atmosphere. The cottage is on a working dairy farm, so not recommended for those who don't like cows. Within driving distance of the coast and Galloway forest park.
