This is the second time we have stayed at Monty,s. It was just the most perfect break. So peaceful and chilled. The cottage itself is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need when staying there. We were there with our 2 dogs and there are plenty of walks for all. We also visited Dores which is nearby with a lovely beach and forest walks. Would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to visit this scenic part of Scotland. Communication with Nicola was excellent and couldn’t have asked for more.
Montys is a cosy little cottage in the village of Foyers near the shores of Loch Ness. The cottage itself has been decorated very stylishly and has everything you need - fully fitted kitchen, squashy sofas and arm chairs, and my husbands favourite feature, the log burner.
We didn’t meet Nicola and James but I received really good communication before we stayed via email, and during our stay by text message. They left a really excellent book full of handy local information, and included some written guides of their favourite walks in and around Foyers which we followed (good guides guys, they were spot on!). The falls at Foyers is located in the gorge below the cottage and is a must see. In summary, Nicola and James are very good hosts.
The village of Foyers is a small village but it has everything you need including a local shop / post office, cafe, excellent pub, hotel and farm shop / cafe.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Montys and would recommend it to anyone.
Great cottage great location. Four adults and a dog with no problems. Recommend. Don’t wait. Book now.
A family of 4 plus a small dog visited the cottage. Its a lovely, well maintained cottage in a brilliant, tranquil location. There are a load of great walks close to the cottage. You can go through woods, past a couple of waterfalls and down to the shore of loch ness.
The Wifi is excellent and there are board games, DVDs and all mod cons. It is a comfortable and warm cottage.
The owner has been particularly helpful as well and answered any queries we had very quickly.
We all loved the trip, I would like to visit again.
Monty is stylish furnished and well equipped (modern kitchen, WiFi), however it could be to cramped when you are travelling with younger children used to run around. Due to its lowered location between the street in front and a hill behind it's difficult to get rid of the natural humidity within the house especially on rainy days - you nearly cannot fire the wood that is stored next to the stove as the logs are full of moisture. We have especially enjoyed the surrounding countryside, be it a walk behind the house to the "secret" loch or a walk to the falls, an obvious tourist-attraction nearby.
