Best Hostel of Our Whole Trip!

Review of Morag's Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 May 2017
We recently stayed at Morag's Lodge on the last night of our Haggis Aventures trip and everyone was lamenting the fact that we couldn't have stayed there every night of the trip. The lobby, bar, and dining area were quite beautiful, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and after a serious lack of outlets in our hostel the night before, we were all super thankful to each have two outlets at the head of our beds. The wifi didn't really reach our room, but to me that wasn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. The food they served at dinner was delicious and the portions were huge for the price, and the bar was so much fun and had a great selection of local drinks. Also, the staff were really nice and friendly. The hostel was sort of nestled in a forest and it was beautiful, and there were lots of places to walk and explore. I wish we had stayed here longer, and was sad to leave the next day.

Had an awesome stay during our Haggis Adventures tour, 3 day Isle of Skye. Stayed for 2 nights at Morag's Lodge. Staff were great: Lucy was bartending, Becks was doing breakfast/dinner, Ian was really helpful at the front desk. There was also Charlie, he was cool, not sure what his specific job was as he hung around a lot in his trackie pants and talked about mermaids. Thanks Guys!! Also thanks for the champers for us winning trivia #quizzyquizzybangbang
Note: Just kidding about Charlie. He was actually really helpful and good to have a laugh with. Just trying to get him in trouble with Claire! :D

Nice enough hostel with friendly staff. Good Sunday roast and decent facilities. Only thing I'd say is that the pillows aren't good on the beds. So flat they may as well be non existent. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

Thanks for your review - we are glad you enjoyed our Sunday Roast! We have replaced the pillows in the room you stayed in for nice fluffy ones - thanks for the feedback, it will help our future guests.

We recently travelled through and stayed here with 5 friends.
Great little place awesome and friendly staff where on board to greet us and help us with our every need.

Only stayed 1 night but would easily stay again if we ever come back to Scotland .

I stayed here with my partner whilst we completed the South Loch Ness trail.

Not having stayed in a hostel before I was unsure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised.

The rooms are basic but clean. With pently of plug points etc.

The room I stayed in had an on suite bathroom and it was possible to rent out the full 4 beds in the dorm for £60 of you don't fancy company.

The wifi is ok but best in the common areas.

They offer basic evening meals however if you are looking for something a little more fancy their are restaurants nearby.

Breakfast is also available and again is basic which is reflected in the price.

All in all not your stereotypical hostel and definitely worth consideration of you are looking for accommodation in the area.

We spent 2 nights in Morag's Lodge with a tour of Haggis Adventures. We stayed in a 6 bed dorm and were really glad about our ensuite bathroom. The bathroom was really clean and especially the shower was great.
In contrast to other Hostels we stayed in, there were plugs on every bed so no need to fight over plugs :)
The dinner and breakfast which you can book on top were really tasty and especially the dinner was a big portion.
The highlight of the hostel is the bar. Every evening they have a different motto - pub quiz, toga evening, karaoke and so on. On top the playlist and the staff are great. So you can have a lot of fun in the evenings :)
Morag's Lodge also offers free WiFi. It only works in the common areas and not in the rooms, but for me this wasn't a big deal because I only was in the bedroom to sleep.

All in all: Great hostel with super friendly staff and an amazing bar.
