We visited as part of a group for high tea. We had a private space. We prebooked our main courses which were traditional simple home cooked food (chicken, beef or fish & chips) . We also had toast, scones, cakes & tea. Good service and pleasant atmosphere. Value for money

Hi, went here for a 1 night stopover before moving on to another hotel, and first impression was I was back in the 70's, the decor takes you right back there, but the staff were very nice so went to our room and again furniture looked very tired really needs to be upgraded. Didn't have the best of sleeps because the 2 pillows were wafer thin. Got up for breakfast (usual fried bacon, sausage etc etc.) and it was OK, again the girl serving was very pleasant. Went for a short stroll after breakfast returning to check out, and when tidying our bed a bit before leaving noticed a blood stain under my pillow which certainly wasn't from or my wife, which leads me to believe that the sheets hadn't been changed from the previous visitor. Not good. When we went down to check out we waited to see someone at reception but no one there, and eventually left our keys next to where others had left theirs when leaving as we were short on time. All this at £140 per night which I think is way over what it should be considering the time warp, and I moved on to my second hotel at £100 a night which was far superior. All in all was disappointed with my overall stay and will not be returning.

Room tip: There are nicer, cheaper places nearby.

I really loved the retro feel of the hotel because it reminded me of the hotels of my youth... super-clean and it made a nice change from the corporate hotels we usually stay in. Lovely friendly staff, a comfortable bed (I slept a treat, although that could also be to do with the consumption of a vat of wine) and a nice breakfast. They didn't specifically have a vegetarian breakfast, but accommodated me with scrambled egg, beans, tomatoes and a tattie scone. The scrambled egg was the best I've ever eaten in a hotel.

Fabulous Hotel with some of the best Staff I have come across over my years travelling. I was fortunate to hold my 70th Birthday party here and cannot praise Ian highly enough for his skill in organising this event , on the night Paul and the Girls were just fabulous at getting our meals out Quickly all hot and with generous portions. My guests were very impressed with the food and the Service , the quality was excellent and the Table Wines were very nice . I would recommend The Willowbank to anyone for any event you won’t be disappointed. Some of my friends stayed over and were very impressed with the rooms yes decor is retro but it’s very clean and tidy and a very good breakfast was had by all .

Room tip: Great Parking , handy for a 10 min walk to Largs Town Centre or a a walk along the New Promenade
