Stayed here for an overnight stay as we were traveling to Arran the next day.On checking in to our room we discovered several hairs in the base of our shower. We then decided to have a couple of drinks in the reasturant and then asked if we could have a booth table which we were told just to take a seat at even though it hadn’t been wiped from previous guest. Our mains came out speedily from the kitchen and were very enjoyable. We finished our mains and our plates still hadn’t been cleared after 40 mins so we didn’t get a chance to have deserts as we left.Front of house staff did not approach us to even offer us another drink when we were finished.I have stayed at the Gailes a few times and had meals there and the standard of service was superb in comparison to this sister hotel

I was really looking forward to going here after having a great experience at The Gailes, their sister hotel for my sisters wedding. The Waterside is beautifully designed but the service in their restaurant was very poor. The main complaint we had was getting locked in our room which is a major fire hazard endangering our safety. This apparently wasn’t the first time that lock got stuck. The staff at reception did not even apologise and when I emailed management to inform them of the matter, they said they would take my feedback further. This is not acceptable at all given the money we spent during our stay. Please be aware of the hotel’s relaxed view on health and safety if you intend to stay here.

We had booked a table thinking it was going to be busy on a Saturday evening. When we arrived at least 4 members of staff failed to acknowledge our presence at the wait to be seated sign.

It was a barman who finally spoke to us and actually said they would be no walk ins as they were busy. We were finally taken to a table where drink orders were quickly taken and delivered.

Starters took at least15 minutes to arrive but mains took in excess of 30 minutes after the starters were cleared. I asked the waitress if we would have much longer to wait and coincidentally the mains arrived a few minutes later.

The food was of a reasonably good quality but very small portion size, pity the price didn't match the quantity provided. A large bill for a small amount provided.

Considering we were told that they would not be able to take walk ins ,there were plenty of empty tables .

Funnily enough the bill was provided very quickly unlike the food.

We stayed here overnight as we had a voucher at the Michelin Starred restaurant in Dalry to use (the restaurant is 15mins in a taxi and about £15 fare). The hotel decor is very like a new england seaside property and it very well done - as the location of the hotel is right by the beach and sea. Very good welcome at the front desk and we booked a sea view room. What a room with a view. it was cloudy - otherwise you could see over to Arran. Opening the french doors - allowed the sound of the sea to come into the room. The room was very well appointed with a great shower and jacuzzi bath. Great products as well. We didn't dine in the restaurant - but the taxi driver said it's a good place to eat!
The breakfast was very good and the restaurant had a great view of the sea. 5mins and you're onto a lovely sandy beach which a lot of locals come to walk their dogs.
All in all, a great location, fantastic room - and it was a shame we only stayed one night. highly recommended.

Room Tip: Sea view are the best rooms!

I got married here one year ago and back today for some lunch. It didn’t disappoint and as usual food was lovely. It’s just a great place to enjoy beautiful beach views and relax! Still very glad we chose The Waterside for our big day! Highly recommend to anyone getting married, a nights stay or just dinner or lunch!
