Stayed in Room 1 (The Strawberry Thief) for one night as a stop over on the way to Devon. Location was very convenient for a short walk into town for evening meal and drinks. Attractive building and nicely finished / clean rooms. Highlight was the bed which was extremely comfy and covered with excellent quality linen - very good night sleep! Negative points - bathroom for room 1 was not en-suite - although a dedicated bathroom was allocated it was a distance across a wide common landing. Breakfast was ok, but not quite as good as hoped - for example the toast was from cut bread - not what I would expect with an award winning bakers in town..

We recently spent a couple of nights at The Gables, it's a lovely building with great rooms and a fantastic breakfast. It is ideally situated for visiting the local area and only a short walk into town.

We stayed for a couple of nights. The house was fascinating with very large rooms. Breakfast was excellent in a beautiful dining room. The hosts were very welcoming. Up of tea and cake on arrival was a lovely touch. We stayed in the pink and rose room. Would highly recommend.

We booked an overnight stay at The Gables in early February to avoid a long drive home to Hampshire after an evening with friends at Bridport's Electric Palace theatre . A family illness prevented our hosts from being on site to greet us on arrival but they had made alternative arrangements to organise access to our rooms and we experienced a very friendly reception complete with tea and home-made cakes. The bedrooms were warm, clean, spacious, tastefully furnished and very comfortable - reflecting the care and attention to detail that the Everitt family have clearly taken in restoring and maintaining their elegant Edwardian home. The comprehensive breakfast menu featured an interesting (and delicious) selection of local produce and our departure was as friendly and unhurried as our arrival had been.
Overall - welcoming, comfortable and excellent value for money.
