We arrived whilst the hosts were not there but arrangements had been made so there was no problem in letting ourselves in. Twin room we had requested was just right. Clean, good ensuite.
Nice little, friendly bar area, serving great real ales.
We ate in their restaurant the first night...it was so good we did the same for our second night. The food really was superb...including the full English the first morning and the huge scrambled eggs on the second - perfectly cooked.
I stretched my legs both mornings before breakfast with a wander down to Nettlecomb, a picturesque little village about a 20 min walk away. Otherewise its very remote and reached via very narrow roads - with plenty of passing points , so dont panic !
Thorougly enjoyable stay - would recommend it.

We stayed here for one night to attend a wedding in the area. Check in was easy. The room was perfect. Clean, decor suited the style of the property but was fresh and modern. Bathroom had a decent shower and was also very clean. The amenities tray was well stocked with home made cookies and fresh milk in the fridge on the landing. We had dinner in the pub and the food was lovely. Service was good and very welcoming. We got back late and the place is well lit so getting back in was fine. Breakfast was lovely, cereal and juice to help yourself and cooked breakfast ordered through the waitress accompanied by coffee and toast. All food was a really good quality. A lovely stay with great customer service. Recommended for a quiet escape, best for couples.

We had an evening meal here with 13 of us including 5 kids. They didn't have a specific children's menu but they were happy to do small portions of anything on the main menu.

I had tempura prawns to start which were fantastic - a really light, crisp batter which didn't fill me up for the impending main course. My main was pork belly which was awesome... everything you want from pork - crisp crackling, soft and tender pork belly that you could cut with a spoon - all accompanied with creamy mash and some well cooked veg. For dessert I had a brandy snap with homemade praline ice cream - not something I'd usually order, but it sounded light and after the starter and main that was exactly what I needed. It didn't disappoint.

Others had fish and chips, ham, egg & chips & the lamb shoulder was a popular choice - all plates cleaned with no complaints!

The playground outside was great to occupy the kids between courses and they girls also found a hidden fairy garden (in the trees behind the main climbing frame!).

The only thing stopping me giving a full 5 stars was the length of service time between courses and particularly the main & dessert. DOn't get me wrong - food was fantastic, setting was great and we would definitely pay it a return visit!

Very pleasant stay for two nights. Be warned some satnavs (mine) took us via an impossible route. Although we didn’t have an evening meal the breakfasts were excellent. The bedroom and facilities were absolutely fine and Tracey was very helpful.

We ate here twice as we were holidaying just down the road in Powerstock, having received a lukewarm reception at the pub in the above mentioned village we decided to eat here, we were not disappointed!
The menu is wonderful with a great range of choices for carnivores and vegetarians alike.
The staff were all friendly, relaxed yet professional and helped us feel welcome and at home very quickly.
The food for us was second to none in the area and we ate out daily during our stay.
The local ales were all well kept and tasted delicious. Children's play area in the garden provides priceless amusement for any kids in tow...
We didn't stay at the pub so can't comment on the guest rooms or the accompanying breakfast but if the rest of the pub is anything to go by, I wouldn't hesitate in booking.
Superb pub and food.
Highly recommended.
