“Pet friendly spacious cottage”
Reviewed 10 October 2019 for a stay in September 2019

For those of us with dogs very much part of the family, I cannot recommend Swallow Barn enough. 2 acres of grounds, a spacious kitchen diner (and lounge), log burner and not in the least bit overlooked, what more can you ask? Our 2 spaniels thoroughly enjoyed their stay and have given a 5 paw rating!

“Great location, fantastic accommodation”
Reviewed 5 August 2019 for a stay in July 2019

Lydford is a really pretty Dartmoor village with an excellent pub and a couple of visitor attractions, the castle and the gorge. Our boys really enjoyed both of these and all the beautiful walks possible right from the barn.

Swallow Barn itself is a brilliant barn conversion with amazing attention to detail throughout and the whole family, and dogs, had a really relaxing time.

Thanks, we will be back! :)

“WOW What a Fantastic Cottage and Location”
Reviewed 27 July 2019 for a stay in July 2019

Swallow Barn what a fantastic cottage with a great location to enjoy Dartmoor, Devon and Cornwall. The cottage itself was situated in a very quiet location, the cottage has all the amenities you could need for a perfect break. The village pub the Castle Inn, was welcoming to us and our dog, with good food enjoyed by all. We also stopped at the Bearslake inn and enjoyed a very pleasant meal.
We will be returning to Swallow Barn in the not too distant future
Thanks Rachel for a lovely hassle free break

“6 stars!”
Reviewed 9 July 2019 for a stay in June 2019

First class accommodation that deserves its 5* rating. Good quality furnishings and fittings. Extremely comfortable with all home comforts. The garden is huge which is great if you have active dogs that need to run up and down. In fact it’s probably one of the best dog friendly stays we have had. Poo bags, water bowls (and crates) provided. There is an outside tap which is great for muddy dogs and/ or walking boots. There is also a really useful boot room for wet coats and boots and dog drying should you be unfortunate to get poor weather (we didn’t). After all this is Dartmoor/ U.K.!
As previously described it is possible to walk to the moor but keep in mind that you are on the ‘military range’ side of the moors and the army do use their ranges on a regular basis.
There is loads of space inside the barn, much more than you could normally expect from a property that sleeps 5. There really are Swallows at the property. It’s lovely to see them so close and active. And a rare treat.....hedgehogs in the garden.
It was lovely to stay somewhere that the owners were so generous with essentials and the not so essentials. Lots of kitchen cupboard and washing supplies and of course the lovely welcome cake. We would and have already recommended this property to others.

“Swallow Barn is exscellent”
Reviewed 3 July 2019 for a stay in May 2019

Fantastic barn and gardens, location was perfect for us as we were fishing just 15 mins away. Think our dog enjoyed the garden more than the fishing.
Housekeeper was very helpfull. We are returning
