We have just spent Christmas and new year at St Clements farmhouse and it really was the most perfect home for us all. We were a party of 6 grown ups and 2 littles and the house has everything we could possible need, including a cot and a high chair. The house is homely and spacious with 2 fabulous open fires and room to comfortably sit 10 around the dining room table. The kitchen is really well stocked and the aga was lovely. The farmhouse is perfectly located just 10 mins walk from the beach and close to town and Gorey.
We really had the most fabulous holiday and would definitely return to the house when we come back to jersey.
This lovely house proved an ideal base for our 2 families over the half-term week on what was our first visit to Jersey. The children loved the big house, with loads of room for good games of hide-and-seek and space to get away from the adults. The large, walled back garden is well maintained and got lot's of use, with plenty of lawn space for family games, herbs for cooking, and furniture for outside dining/relaxing. The house itself was clean and well maintained with bags of character. It felt very homely and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Crucially the WIFI worked well, seeming to have no trouble supporting multiple devices at once. The large, well-equipped kitchen was perfect for the mass catering our two families required - once we got used to using the Aga - and there was a lovely big dining table for family meals.
The house is situated about 10 minutes’ drive outside St Helier, so was very handy for the ferry terminal - welcome after what had been rather a long day’s travel from London. We also spent a wet afternoon at the excellent Maritime Museum there, which looked small at first, but turned out to have room after room of great interactive exhibits and we ended up having to drag the kids away after several hours. There were multiple options for food shopping within a few minutes’ drive of the house, including a Waitrose and a couple of large farm shops. It was also very handy for the beaches, being walking/jogging distance from a huge beach and not far in the car to any of the numerous other beaches and attractions this lovely Island has to offer. Our favourite beach was Archirondel, which was only a short drive away from the house, has sand, rock-pools, an attractive light-house and a good café and facilities. Also much enjoyed, but further away in the North of the Island, was the stunning Plemont beach. The other stand-out activity we did was coastal foraging run by the inimitable Kazz – extremely informative and fun.
We would highly recommend this house as an excellent base for a holiday in Jersey.
