If you planning to go to Kiawah Island, GO! It's an amazing Island in the low country. Perfect for family vacations and holidays. We've visited several times and will continue to go back again and again. The beaches are beautiful and the natural setting is perfect. But, we made a mistake this year, and we will never make this mistake again! We want to give you the same advice. If you want to take advantage of all the island has to offer, be sure to book your stay with KIawah Island Resorts - not Wyndham! Why? Although the unit was very nice, the Wyndham service that supports the unit is not! If you book through Wyndham, you will have access to NOTHING other than the beach and parking in front of your rental property. You will not have access to the Kiawah Island Resort Pools and amenities. They do not tell you this up front, and it is put in a "vague" way in the Rental Agreement. Read the FINE PRINT. It's on the 2nd page, item #13. Here it is: "pools are restricted to guests staying in those accommodations....most accommodations do not offer access to pools." This is NOT TRUE! Kiawah Island Resorts offer access to ALL POOLs. However, Wyndham does not offer this access, and it is not spelled out in the rental agreement. You would need to call them and ask specifically about pool access. If you have children, you will want to use all of the beautiful facilities that are available, including the pools, the nature center, the activities center and the best service available. Additionally, we found the condominium was not properly cleaned, the vacuum cleaners were clogged and not functioning properly, there was mold in the washing machine and there were roaches in the cabinets. Wyndham provided us with limited cleaning supplies, not enough essentials such as garbage bags, toilet paper, etc. The bath towels were old and stained, which is really a shame. We paid over $7500 for 7 nights stay! The actual property was beautiful - but the service was terrible. All I can stay is if you want a beautiful and nice stay in Kiawah, be sure to rent your villa or home from Kiawah Island Resorts. We will NEVER make this mistake again! For an absolutely incredible experience - stay at The Sanctuary. It's so beautiful and special. Here are some other Wyndham hassles: The bikes they rented for us were old and disgusting, the WIFI didn't work for days and they couldn't get it fixed until mid week, there is no mid-week cleaning, they don't supply beach towels - although the owner supplied 2 for use (the condo accommodates up to 8). Just go to Kiawah Island Resorts and be happy!

Valued guest,

I am very sorry to hear of your disappointment regarding the lack of access to the resort-owned pools. Our goal is to exceed expectations for all of our Kiawah guests, which is why we are so careful to cover pool access both in the rental agreement and in the “travel tips” section of our website, which is linked in our Confirmation Letter and sent to all guests upon booking. Those sections are quoted verbatim below. While only the resort operator gives access to the privately owned resort pools, we are able to provide outstanding accommodations at substantially lower rates with the same access to the beautiful beach, bike trails, children’s programs and many other activities that make this destination so special. The paragraphs below are included in material sent to all Wyndham guests.

“KIAWAH ISLAND POOL ACCESS: Kiawah does not offer a public pool for general guest use. Private and community pools are restricted to the use of guests staying in those particular accommodations. If pool access is important to you, please verify the access associated with the accommodation you have rented. Most accommodations on Kiawah do not offer access to a swimming pool.”
“Is there use of a pool? There are no public pools on Kiawah Island, but the complexes of Inlet Cove, Sparrow Pond, Greenslake Cottages, Duneside, the Village at Turtle Beach, Ocean Green, Silver Moss and Atlantic Beach Court have their own pools, which are free for guests staying in those neighborhoods. Some homes have private pools. If access to a pool is important to your family, please request a property with pool access at time of booking.”

Again, I am sorry you were not completely satisfied with your experience and welcome you to contact me directly if I may be of service in the future.
