This is a wonderful outdoor activity for just about any age. You have to buy tickets online in advance for $4 per person. Children seven and under are free. The farm supplies you with scissors so there is no risk of bringing in something that might harm the plants. They have a variety of different lavenders that bloom at different times. There is lavender for crafts, decorations, cooking, essential oils, bouquets and flower arrangements. The farm is very organized, and when you arrive you are directed to a parking spot. After that you check-in, you are given a short introductory class on lavender picking. You can bring your own basket or use one that they have available. As I stated earlier, you should not bring scissors. After you are finished with your harvest, they measure how much you have and charge you $2, $4, $6, $8, or $10. They do have a limit of two $10 harvests per ticket. I noticed that there were people of all ages enjoying this fun outdoor activity. They also provide portable toilets, a shaded area with tables and chairs, activity center for children, and a gift shop. On Saturdays you can grab a bite to eat at local food trucks. Additional activities include lavender classes, tours, artist days, and tours. Grab a basket and take off to the Southern Hills Lavender Farm for a great outdoor activity.
