HGI is my favorite chain of hotels and whenever I can find one near my travel route that's where I lay my head at night. HGI isn't stodgy like Hampton Inn, the lobbies are bright and vibrant, the restaurants have good food, and the bar is inviting. The rooms are perfect for a single traveler or a couple.
While I enjoyed the stay, as always, I will say that at this HGI you won't have to worry about leftovers - as is the case at all the other locations. The serving portions are dinky. For example, at breakfast I was offered 'sliced tomatoes' as a side dish to my egg. Okay, I'm game. Turned out to be two rather small forkfuls of diced tomatoes, maybe the equivalent of one slice of tomato. My bruschetta order for dinner was a medium-size piece of bread with cold toppings that was appetizer size, not entrée size. I am used to HGIs that pile it on the plate and thus I've learned to 'order down' instead of up. This location was the exception to the rule.
Even so, I'd stay here again. The service was great, the room was freshly renovated, they honored my request for a quite hallway, and the location is just off the highway.More
