This is a great trail system for anyone who enjoys a smooth, gentle ride on scenic trails. There are no challenging or highly technical spots. Nothing that would discourage someone that has ridden a few times before. There area few descents that require reasonable care as the drop next to you could be hazardous if are not paying attention and driving at a safe speed.
My son is 14 and a very experienced rider. He made it through on a 2wd without any challenges. We have ridden many trails all over PA (AOAA, NWORC, Lost Trails...), so far, this is one of our favorites. We will return.
Its a good trail for an experienced rider that is looking for a change, or a beginner looking for a nice environment to develop skills and enjoy the sport. The trail is well maintained and has ample parking at the Denton Hill Trailhead. Other parks have trails that join this trail making it a 40 mile plus system.
Aside from my advice regarding traveling at a safe speed, I would highly recommend taking a map (available at the various trailheads) with you. You can also download it from the DCNR website. A compass wouldn't hurt either. There are a few places along the trail with a "you are here" marking on a map that can be useful if you loose your bearings. I wouldn't say that the trail is well marked. I would say that it is occasionally marked. Make sure you have a full tank of fuel before you hit the trail in addition to snacks and drinks . I would also recommend traveling with at least one other, experienced rider. Cell phone service is spotty at best. Plan on being back to your trailer well before dark. Then be prepared to see a beautiful night sky. Potter County is listed as one of the top ten places in the WORLD to view the night sky. You will be amazed. Google " Coudersport night sky" and you will see what I am talking about. The place to see the night sky is along the trail, but not accessible from the trail, at night, as they don't want artificial light to disturb the people viewing it. Cherry Hill State Park is where you want to be before dark.
This is a must do for any ATV enthusiast .
