This was certainly not my first stay at this hotel; however, this visit was every bit as enjoyable as the last. If nothing else, the hotel is consistent in their service and hospitality. We were in town for a wedding that was held at the hotel and the event and our stay were both seamless. We had a corner room, with exceptional views. Being on a corner, we were lucky enough to have views of one of my favorite cities in two directions. The location of this hotel is so perfect. I find Pittsburgh a very walkable city and this remains true when staying here. We were able to reach Station Square, the North Shore and the Strip District easily on foot. Bear in mind, the front desk told us they did not recommend walking to the Strip; however, we tried it anyhow and were so pleased that we did. It is a little more than a mile, but very enjoyable (maybe not so much on a super hot or rainy day). You can also reach the cultural district on Penn Ave so easily! This area is fantastic for outdoor seating and people watching.
For the most part, the staff of the hotel are so accommodating. The front desk staff and all the event/restaurant/bar staff were so pleasant and friendly. I was a little surprised by the housekeeping staff, but did not have extensive interactions to really judge. The beds are SO comfy and the bathroom very clean with very nice toiletries. I also appreciated having a fridge in the room. The water pressure is very impressive in the shower; I prefer a heavy pressure and this was just ideal. And, please note, this hotel has amazing hair dryers....they are not your typical two-setting (high/low) dryers. Each room has an ion hair dryer with heat setting AND level of air. I really appreciated this so much.
On two occasions our room key did stop working for no apparent reason, but the front desk quickly fixed this each time. However, it was a nuisance to have to run to the lobby late at night and again in the morning just to get back into our room.
We chose to park in the garage directly across the street from the hotel instead of using valet - this is just a personal preference as the garage is much cheaper and we knew that we would not need our car out during our stay. However, the valet and bell men are EXTREMELY helpful and welcoming. The hotel also has plenty of elevators - we were never waiting more than seconds to catch one.
Overall, this is just a gem in the middle of downtown. The hotel is simply gorgeous....and it doesn't hurt that we always see a Steeler or two walking around!

Room Tip: Higher level rooms provide great views and I always love a corner room.

This historic hotel’s draw is the grand lobby, but the attention to detail and upkeep of the entire facility is significantly lacking. You pay top dollar, but they do not operate like other luxury hotels. The Tap Room’s food (casual option) is very limited and poorly executed. An Olive Garden provides better quality food and options - I dislike chain food, so that’s saying quite a bit. Most of the hotel needs deep cleaning. Dust. Glazed windows and mirrors throughout the halls/lobby. It is a beautiful historic hotel that has a story to tell. However, many display cases are left empty with dirty windows and collected dust. All carpets throughout the hotel need replacing. The bathrooms are very small. The Starbucks has not reopened, due to Covid. That’s fine, but there’s a sign directing you to go to Palm Court for freshly brewed coffee. Not open. However, there is a Keurig machine on the check-in counter. If I wanted that, I’d have gone to a Hampton Inn. And I would have gotten a free continental breakfast. WiFi not included. Understaffed - the woman at the front desk was also my bellman/woman at 7:00 a.m. She was over utilized, for sure and it was obvious. It’s not worth the money. I wanted to love it. It’s a building worthy of love. I pray Omni Corporate infuses millions into a facelift and a refocused business model that is mindful of service and luxury. They are charging as if they provide it.

Recently attended a wedding, and since Pittsburgh is our hometown never had the opportunity to stay at this elegant hotel before . The room was clean, beds were comfortable, and service first rate. Lobby is so impressive when you walk in, and it was so good to see town so alive again after covid closed the hotel. The wedding was on the 17th floor, and the attention to detail was spot on. Room was beautifully decorated, food was delicious, and everyone was so kind and courteous. We parked across the street under Mellon Park, and rates were reasonable. Excellent job done by all!

Nice but just nice. Things are a bit sloppy. When we checked in late there were some used glassware in front of our door. The next day, still there. No big deal but not fantastic. Third day I called im the morning and asked if they could pick them up. They said they would. Back at 5 still there. It's an example of how things are. Not high standards. Dining room chairs dirty. Upperfloors 80 degrees in hallways. Could be great but obviously they are not seeing an amount of visitors to justify the effort.

This hotel was centrally located and had clean, spacious rooms. The hotel lobby is beautiful and the staff was very friendly. I was grateful for the good water pressure, comfortable beds and a decent hair dryer. The gym was well equipped and the bars had good drinks and service. Breakfast is paid for separately so I opted for the bagel shop that connects to the hotel on the grant street entrance. There are many good restaurants in the area as well. I would recommend this hotel for families, business and solo travelers.

Room tip: Street parking was free from 6pm to 8am

If you're the kind pf person who reads the historical displays in hotels and appreciates a glamorous lobby, this is the hotel for you. Conveniently located, great staff, and lots of fancy places to sit! Our room was extra large and had two bathrooms, to our surprise. The hotel had just reopened, so the restaurants weren't open, but the staff was obviously happy to be there.

Room tip: The higher the better, and ask for one that doesn't face an interior wall.
