Stayed 4 nights Oct 5-9, in from
British Columbia for Steelers vs Ravens. Have stayed at many Fairmont properties and was disappointed that the premises and “the little things” were simply not the pristine Fairmont luxury we were used to. We actually stayed at Fairmont Vancouver Airport (which is always perfect) the day before we arrived in Pittsburgh, and there is no comparison between the two.
Now, the location is fantastic, room service and Floor 2 food quality were great, and ALL the staff we dealt with were top notch and very friendly. Definitely a true Fairmont experience there.
But the bathroom was run down, with rusty mildew around the shower that stained the bath mat every morning, almost all linens and towels (even the napkins in Floor 2) were torn at the ends and had threads dangling off of them and should not have been in use. The bed was never properly made, with sheets dangling out, trash can didn’t get emptied two of the days, not sure why there were no Keurig pods for the Keurig machine in the room. All of these are the nitpicky little finishing touches, but they are the things that distinguish a luxury hotel like a Fairmont from a lesser property. We paid Fairmont prices for our stay and think those are reasonable expectations to have.
Had a great trip and a nice enough stay, but next time we are in town I’m unsure if we’d chose the Fairmont, even though it’s our preferred hotel brand.
