My husband and I have just returned from a really relaxing overnight stay at Hustyns. We knew there was no bar or restaurant before arriving because the hotel had made that clear on their website and booking confirmation email too.
Our room was lovely - very large with a huge bathroom (separate shower and bath). All very clean and nicely laid out. Our shower was hot and the water was clear!
We walked around the grounds last night and the site is incredible. The pool and spa area looked clean and well looked after. The grounds are extensive and a pleasure to walk around.
We can only comment on the continental breakfast - choice of cereals, croissants, toast, cheese, ham and fruit. All fresh and lovely Cornish coffee too. All the staff we encountered were polite and helpful.
In all it’s great to see the management bringing Hustyns back to life. We would definitely return and we wish them every success in the future.

I feel a little ripped off to be honest and wouldn't recommend, not a 5* (Just stayed somewhere 3* nearby and was excellent)
we received no booking confirmation or info on check in etc.
Got there and was told no restaurant or bar, wasnt told this when booking. Then told what we paid only covered a continental breakfast, again wasn't told when booking. Not a huge problem as told we could have cooked for a bit extra.
went down to breakfast 1st morning, no-one around at all. there's a sign saying wait to be seated, good job we didn't as took 20 mins for anyone to appear. tables all dirty. Breakfast selection was stale bread, some soft cereal, random yogurt in a bowl. went to get a cup of tea but hot water machine had sign saying it was being descaled, (why wouldn't you do this after Breakfast?)
when a staff member did appear she looked shocked to see us, no offer of a cooked breakfast or anything before she walked off. when she did come out kept looking over at us like we shouldn't be there, kind of felt uncomfortable. Not sure if we were late down to breakfast or something but we were there way before they said it finished, didn't bother with it 2nd morning.
Rooms were nice and clean, can't fault that and main receptionist friendly but the rest of it pretty rubbish really. shouldn't be open yet and need to train staff.
water from taps also a funny colour. would ask for a refund but doubt will get anywhere...

After a 4 hour drive we were told that they had no restaurant or bar! When we asked why had they reopened the hotel when it wasn’t really ready, the answer was, ‘well, we’ve got to start bringing money in’. Hello, I take enormous umbrage to having to supplement future guests enjoyment.
To add insult to injury, we had no hot water for two days!!!
The first morning we were offered a cooked breakfast on the house (yip de do!). As the 12 year old waitress (?) brought the food, she gave my husband his and mine slid off the plate on to the table!!
This hotel purports to be ‘luxury’, well all we can say is that it’s all fur coat and no knickers!
The staff seemed like they’d walked in off the street and didn’t have a clue what was going on - all vacant in the extreme!
If you’re looking for a relaxing few days away I suggest you choose an hotel a million miles away from this place!
Just wish we could give some minus stars!

My stay was for three nights to attend the Royal Cornwall Show 6,7 and 8 June 2018. The hotel had opened following a long closure with new management.
It’s obvious that it opened far to quickly on a budget, no drinks licence, no restaurant licence and breakfast that was nothing short of stale bread mixed fruit from a can this they called Continental Breakfast. The water from all taps was brown, try brushing your teeth with this UGH, as for a bath I would not dip sheep in it. On the second day the boiler stoped working so we had Cold Brown Water, so they offered an upgrade at breakfast to cooked that was on a plate the size of a tea plate and normally cost £7. NEVER AGAIN

We booked through secret escapes for 4 nights and on arrival they put us in a twin large room and we asked why a twin when we clearly book king they where moor than happy to move us. The room was very small with a balcony and was ok, the first morning we open the curtains and found a blueberry on the floor so we left it to see if it would be cleared up, this was still in the room on day 3 so we had to ask for a cleaner to hoover the room as this was not done, the bins hadn't been empty and the tea coffee facilities was not cleaned that day.
The breakfast was not continental you would expect, the alpine was old and soft so was the nuts and seeds, the fruit was a fresh apple/ banana and tin fruit nothing was labelled the yogurt they had did not say what it was it was just on the table in a open bowl, to help yourself. The first morning we was greeted and shown to a table and was offered upgrade at a cost to cook breakfast and my husband had poached eggs and they were ok.
The next morning we arrived after that no one was to great us so we found a seat then helped ourself before anyone turned up to offer tea, coffee.

We decided to skip breakfast the 3rd morning and eat out so glad we did as on our last day we decided to have a cook breakfast as their was a sign on the front desk offering breakfast to the other guest. We went to take our seats and a young lady arrived to ask us what would we like to drink and we asked for the cooked breakfast she replied they kitchen was not ope, on that we left.
The grounds are beautiful and definitely a quite place to stay, if you are not worried about customer services or attention to detail or pay the price that they are asking I would stay again.
This could be a gold mine of a place with offers of a spar weekend as they do have the facilities to offer this just not organised, the therapist was fantastic and a good price paid for both treatments, just a shame they don't advertise her services.
When we checked out the man at the front desk we dealing with me and the phone rang he asked me to wait, I thought he would of asked the customer on the phone to hold as he was in the middle of checking me out but no he carried on with the call and left me standing, when he finished his call he did not even ask if everything was ok with our stay all he said was nothing to pay.
We was told the place was closed for 2 years and only just open this year you can clearly see signs of some of the hotel is defiantly run down, I would say sort the customer service out, attention to detail like the balcony cleaned because this was never touched and have staff ready to serve.

Room Tip: read the reviews shouldn't be open yet get the customer service sorted
