Badgers Holt is the perfect place for total peace and quiet, and a relaxing holiday.
We were met with a very warm and friendly welcome, by owners Anne and Graham. A quick tour and explanation of the property was given, and then we were left to enjoy our stay. There was a cream tea, along with fresh milk in the fridge, half dozen fresh eggs from their chickens, tea, coffee and sugar in the cupboards.
The property itself is much more spacious than the photos show, and being all on one level makes it easy for anyone with mobility issues.
Two bedrooms, one double and one with two single beds. Open plan lounge/kitchen with dining table and comfy dining chairs. Lounge has two two-seater sofas, freeview tv, blueray player, wifi.
Kitchen area has fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, oven, hob, dishwasher, kettle, toaster (which works, unlike other places we have stayed!).
Ample amount of crockery and cutlery, pots, pans, and other utensils. Cleaning liquids and detergents are also there for use.
Bathroom has bath, separate shower cubicle, sink and toilet.
Patio doors lead out to the back, good sized garden, with table and outside chairs. The garden is a lovely sun-trap surrounded by trees and shrubs which have the birds singing from them, especially the robins.
The window at the front of the property overlooks the front gardens, which are well maintained, and has MANY trees/shrubs with bird feeders hanging from. The huge variety of different birds makes for very relaxing watching, and listening, during the day time. At night though, this front window becomes the viewing place to see the other visiting wildlife - Badgers and Foxes. Each night was very entertaining, watching to see who would get the egg, and the peanuts first!!
The property is ideally and centrally placed if you want to explore Cornwall.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return in the future.
We have just had a wonderful 2 weeks holiday at badgers holt with my partners two grandchildren, one is 11 and the other 8.
Anne and Graham are lovely and very welcoming, we were greeted with yummy scones, fresh clotted cream and jam.
Badgers holt is beautiful and spacious with a well equipped kitchen, great sized bathroom with a fantastic power shower, the bedrooms are a good size with very comfy beds, the lounge is also lovely with a lovely fire and comfy sofas and the garden is a good size and is a little sun trap, the boys loved playing swingball and football out there! The washing machine is great as it has a quick wash if you just need to freshen up some clothes with a 14, 30 or 45 minute cycle, we didn’t need to use the dry as we hung them out on the washing line in the garden.
The boys loved having fresh eggs for breakfast from the happy hens and enjoyed meeting the resident horses. They also got to see the badges that come to visit each night for their peanuts and eggs that Anne puts out each evening for them.
We really cannot fault the place, we had such a lovely time staying at badgers holt.
It’s in a great central location so we also had lots of days out all over Cornwall.
Highly recommended by all or us
Thank you for having us Anne and Graham
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Badgers Holt. It was our second holiday and we can't wait to book again. We saw the badger each evening enjoying the food left for him by the owners. The weather was brilliant for February so we didn't waste any time and visited our favourite places in Cornwall. It was lovely to come home to the cottage after a very full day and enjoy the cosiness and comfort of this property. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet location, easy access to Cornwall's beaches, gardens, and coastal walks. Thank you Anne and Graham.
A week spent at Badgers Holt over Christmas with a visit to local Portreath beach on Christmas morning to watch dozens of families swimming in the sea. Also visited beautiful St Mawes on a glorious sunny day. It could have been the middle of summer. The rest of our time spent relaxing in the extremely comfortable, warm, cozy cottage watching the birds antics on the feeders, treating the horses every evening with carrots and of course watching the badgers. Anne and Graham went to so much trouble decorating the cottage for Christmas and providing us with fresh eggs and mince pies with of course the obligatory clotted cream. Bless you both. Already booked again for June 2019
We had a wonderful week at Badger’s Holt. The bungalow was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The fresh eggs and cream tea on arrival were very well received. We loved watching the badgers coming to collect their peanuts every evening. The property is in a very central location so we were able to visit lots of different places, including St Ives, Lands End, St Michaels Mount, and many more. Our favourite beach was Chapel Porth; home of the famous hedgehog ice creams. Definitely worth a visit! Thanks to Anne and Graham for their friendly hospitality.
