“What Cornwall is all about!”

We stayed at The Big Beach House the last weekend of February and cannot rate the place highly enough. The house is beautiful, full of really lovely little touches with plenty of space, a wonderful AGA and a great mix of relaxation and activities. We stayed as a large group to celebrate our wedding anniversary and came away with some fantastic memories.

The house has absolutely everything you could need or want and is superbly located. The views of the ocean are probably the best in Cornwall (and we've seen a fair few) and it feels so private, away from the hustle and bustle of St. Ives whilst still being able to see it.

As a group we went surfing on the Saturday (highly recommend The Shore Surf School, which is walkable if some just want to walk along the beach and watch others) and went to Hayle a few times for amenities, casual lunch etc which is within walking distance.

We will definitely be returning and thank Lesley for her help throughout!

We stayed at the Big Beach House for my 30th birthday with a mix of family and friends. Truly stunning location, right on the cliff edge, overlooking the white sands of Hayle. The house is set at the end of a private driveway which means we had lots of privacy, great parking and meant there was no through traffic so the view of beach and bay was uninterrupted.

The accommodation was ample and well described by the owner - it's not 5 star luxury but that wasn't what we expected. Clean rooms, comfy beds, good quality bed linen, modern cots for babies. Comfy sofas and dining areas and plenty of kitchen equipment, even stuff for baking which was a real treat with that gorgeous Aga. I've stayed in many different holiday lets and the great thing about this one is that there's a HUGE larder and lots of fridge and freezer space - not often the case for such a huge party. Also 4 bathrooms which meant no long queues nor arguments! and plenty of hot water thanks to the eco-friendly owner having installed solar panels. We didn't have any trouble with rubbish bags or recycling during our stay - all was easily signposted.

We admittedly were very lucky with the weather so spent lots of time outside on long walks and playing cricket on the lawn - tons of wet weather activities provided by the owner too which would have meant (for us at least) that we definitely wouldn't let the Cornish weather be a worry.

A group of us visited here excellent views right next to beach house great size small attic room had no window did have door with fire exit which didn't want to leave open whilst out so no fresh air rest of house ok few touch ups here and there curtains not hanging properly so hard to close but ok for a group as things do get knocked about no recycling boxes and bags til end of stay so leaving rubbish in house as gulls attack it would go again only slight faults

I must apologise for the delay in coming back to you but I have only just found out that I can post responses! You'll be pleased to know that we are tackling 2 rooms per winter so now the whole of the ground floor has been refurbished (including 2 new bathrooms) and we are about to start on the attic rooms. Actually when we stay there (usually over Christmas) we put the teenagers in the bedroom you talk about, so that they can come and go without waking up the whole household! The landing at the top of the fire escape stairs has a window so we suggest keeping that and the door open for fresh air. You'd notice a big change if you came back now! Wishing you all the best, and thank you for taking the time to review The Big Beach House. from Lesley
