We visited The Italian for a 50th birthday celebration on the 27th April & enjoyed every minute of the evening.
The food, atmosphere & service were spot on, nothing was too much trouble for the staff... from keeping our drinks topped up, serving a wonderful meal to all thirteen (well 12 & a 2 year old!!).
The food was as usual delicious (even a family member from Italy said how great it was!!!)
All in all I can praise them enough & am looking forward to returning again soon!

We booked for Mother's Day party of 8. Looked forward to the menu but was disappointed by the service of the food. The waitress was fantastic the starters came at different times and the side salad was warm and sweaty with a horrendous dollop of curdled dressing placed on top which drowned and made it even more unappetising, and the chicken wings had come straight out of the microwave.. so hot they burnt your mouth. The mains came and 2 of them had to be sent back as they were cold. One of the featured dishes was a Fish stew that stated had monkfish prawns, mussels and bruschetta in a fish broth. On arrival it was a bowl on six pieces of thumbnail sized monkfish 10 on the vine oven baked tomatoes and a dash of tomato purée with no seasoning and a lack of finesse.. my nieces carbonara was cold and the garlic bread ordered at the same time was served when the meal had finished . The garlic mushrooms were lacking in mushrooms and swimming in a sea of sauce.. the bar drinks were warm and ice leaden so any alcohol was lost in the water.
We complained and received £20 off the bill but upon checking the bill when we arrived home we noticed we were charged extra so the refund was null and void..
Don't think we'll be returning as a family treat was spoilt by the food and the feeling of being ripped off with the price of the advertised food and the supposedly refund off the total spent..

We booked for 20 and were shoehorned into an area next to the kitchen, which is normally a bar area and It was very cramped as staff were continually having to ask you to move as they needed to pass, with the surroundings looking very tired and like a throwback from 15 years ago.

The starters were ordered, but took an hour to be served, mains were an hour later and one of our party was forgotten altogether, with no questions of whether our food was OK, either between courses or during.

On top of this the food was much less than average and rarely have I seen so much food pushed around a plate and subsequently wasted.

When the manager was complained to, he swore at his serving staff, despite there being children present, this man was totally unprofessional.

This restaurant cannot cope with large parties and as such it shouldn’t book them, as surely it’s better to refuse, rather than to disappoint people and receive a negative reputation as a consequence of your ineptitude?

What should have been a memorable family get together was absolutely ruined by this awful place and the staff, so it comes as no surprise that I would never set foot in the place again and I will always urge others to give it a very wide berth.
