Situated high above the Columbia River Gorge on historic Hwy 30, the Crown Point View House offers gorgeous views of the gorge below. Opened in 1918 as a stunning rest stop and viewpoint along the new Hwy 30, it featured marble floors and stained glass windows. The octagonal building features stone carved panels with the names of settler families from the Oregon Trail. Do not miss this stunning stop at exit 22 on Hwy 84 and continue on Hwy 30 to visit the beautiful waterfalls that line the gorge.
Your camera will be packed with gorgeous images!

Incredible view from the highest point of the Columbia Gorge! Worth stopping by and driving by the historical road. Going to or coming from Portland!

Vista house is an iconic historic landmark dating back to 1930, so almost 100 y old.
Built of stone it offers a panoramic terrace, great gift shop and small coffee shop, as well a kind of small museum with historic aerial photos over decades with explanations.
Best to reach it is via a scenic Historic highway, though you can also do it via I-84. Much parking space in April, however I think it's difficult in summer season to find.
Views of Columbia river with both, Washington and Oregon sides are naturally the main star here.

While Vista House could use some attention, it does provide a stunning place to view the Columbia River Gorge. The Vista House is staffed with volunteers that can provide helpful information about the area. It has a coffee shop and a ift shop. There are historical photos lining the walls though you can see water damage and the need for repairs. It is a beautifully designed building that Roadside America calls the Statue of Liberty of the West though it is more of a metaphor as greeting place from west like the SOL greets visitors in the east. Some would say it is mainly an expensive rest stop along the Columbia River highway. It does have accessible rest rooms, but it is the views that will keep you coming back.
