Marietta, OH Microtel Inn Stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 weeks ago
Comfortable/clean room, bed and bathroom. Staff were friendly. Was a noticeably long delay for someone to come to the front desk to check us in (others waiting behind me, also). Overall, pleased and will stay here again when back in this area.

I stayed here only one weekend for the Pawpaw festival an hour west in Albany, Ohio. I had an exceptional experience considering this is a budget-friendly hotel. Late checkin was seamless, and my Wyndham Diamond status was recognized. The room was very clean and well laid out with a kitchenette and work desk. I’d say there was meticulous attention to detail with the cleanliness in public areas as well. The breakfast was continental style with hardboiled eggs and a waffle iron, but I knew this before booking here. The continental buffet had a variety to choose from and was also well stocked even towards the end of the morning. The internet worked very well. The public dining area was somewhat small, but I never had trouble finding a seat. At the end of the stay I had some last minute work I had to iron out. The front desk was considerate enough to allow me access to the meeting room while I wrapped matters up, post checkout. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

After subpar stays in the nearby Super 8 and Red Roof Inn, I paid up for this better hotel and actually enjoyed a pleasant 2 months here with an attractive weekly rate, free breakfast and 30+ day tax reimbursement.

Pros: Though the rooms are small, mine was attractively modern, (mostly) clean, bug free, and comfortably furnished with a good bed, office desk, bay window seat, and other fridge, microwave, iron, board, hair dryer conveniences. The ac, heat, and wifi worked well, the service staff all friendly and helpful, and the daily breakfast a good layout of options and quality.

Cons: Aside from front desk staff frequently neglecting the phones, I found just two major flaws worth noting. First, the stained bedroom carpets, dirty hallways, and disgusting elevator represents 2 star quality, not 4. Second, the unusually early maid cleaning requiring the slamming of doors 10+ times per room is unprecedented in any hotel I've been in my life. It's an extreme annoyance and unnecessary one that management should negate for sake of the guests reasonable peace and quiet.

In short, I think this remains the best lower/mid priced hotel option in town, but its noted problems are disappointing for an otherwise nice place.

Room tip: Be aware that the walls are thin, so TV noise and voices are prevalent.

The stay was very good, not very fond of the light switch system which requires your key card and an air conditioner sensor that detects motion and does not keep room cold at night like it should, just too much technology for me

Clean micro-room, easy access from the highway, surrounded by all the usual chain restaurants and hotels. A sad micro-breakfast buffet with nothing hot. We went out for breakfast the second morning. (Recommend Tonya's Country Kitchen, less than five minutes away.) How to rate the location? Five stars if you want a view of parking lots and highways. Zero stars if you want a view of Marietta.

Nice quiet room. We had a 3rd floor room on the backside. It was quiet. Breakfast was okay for something quick to eat (waffle, cereal, fruit, muffin, bagel/toast, yogurt). Staff was friendly and the room was clean! Beds were good. Thank you to the staff for a nice place to rest our heads.

Room tip: No pool, so if you have littles, this may not be the fit for your family.
