From the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and helpful, myself & a friend had arrived early to decorate the birthday girls room , which we did and waited for her arrival hidden, one of the staff was on the look out as it was a surprise !! Our Dinner was amazing , considering 3 of us have food allergy's !! Chef very accommodating ! Rooms had everything you need ie robes toiletries, tea coffee etc , we also used the spa and had treatments , fabulous !! We all enjoyed our stay , Thank you to all the staff you do a great job XXX

Room tip: All rooms would be great

The food and general ambience in the restaurant are excellent. The wine list is comprehensive but a little overpriced. The service in the restaurant, however, is distinctly substandard with too few staff who are both inattentive and lacking the skills one would expect in what regards itself as an upmarket venue. It is the only restaurant I have been to where I have declined to leave a tip.

Completely honest review: we stayed 2 nights for our 25th Wedding Anniversary - we wanted something quintessentially English having spent the last 16 years in the UAE, 5 & 6 star experiences but modern, shiny and sometimes less than personal. Advised on booking that my wife has a dietary intolerance to gluten and that is was our silver anniversary. Check in was great, a welcomed upgrade on our room - a delightful room with a real fireplace, casual seating and a modern and lovely bathroom - really really lovely.

We’d booked spa treatments for my wife on our arrival afternoon and both of us on our anniversary day - all of which we rate highly - good check in, qualifying any ailments, preferred style etc - rate these highly.

We dined in the restaurant both evenings and this is only area I’d recommend more focus: appreciate it’s probably difficult to recruit considering the location, but at +£50/head regardless of menu choice (excluding wine) I’d expected a little more: I’d expected a better menu than an ‘allergin’ menu provided (listed food ingredients), many lesser priced locations will either confirm exactly what the chef can produce or even a table consultation.

The set menu & the Climping Menu had little variation each day leaving repetitive choices (Rissotto) on each day; serving staff did aim to assist however needs to be simpler for the diner, considering the premium. Our anniversary evening we both chose the Chateaubriand having spotted it the night before - in complete honesty it was hugely disappointing : served luke warm, tough to eat and one plate was returned half eaten without any question from staff/kitchen. It was our anniversary evening, I was not going to further spoil it by complaining. I cook. I cook Chateaubriand. Better.

Breakfast is great, good choices, wide range, great coffee and love the porridge with Whiskey to accompany - loved our room and the front of house team, loved the spa and the clinicians, loved loved loved the location - but you need to sort the dining: sorry for that negative, because we loved everything else - and we stayed 2 weeks ago so this is a considered review, not a niggle or beg: would love to stay again, but need to see positive dining reviews. Thanks for looking after us, I’d have loved to rate a Very Good or more, but couldn’t.

I was treated to a one night stay and 8 want to be fair in my review. We had a lovely time. The front of house staff were excellent and the restaurant team could learn a few pleasantries from them. Our room was very nice, well equipped with lovely extra touches. The spa is super and the entire team there were most friendly.
Breakfast was five star. Our evening meal was extremely good but we were told that our deal only included two courses. We were puzzled but did not dare to question the slightly abrupt server. We were disappointed to subsequently discover that we should have been offered three courses. What a shame but great hotels know that what differentiates them from the masses is the detail. Sadly Baliffscourt fell short and for this reason I cannot award five stars
This is only my view and I leave it to you to decide if you want try it and give it the full five stars which I think it may often achieve.

We went as a family as one of us had been very ill and wanted a weekend to recuperate. The grounds and location are truly stunning and the spa lovely. The food was great. We booked to stay in the contemporary suites which are four in a converted block. The rooms were dark and jaded and the soundproofing terrible. It is the first time in 15 years that we have only been provided with a double bed in a 5 star boutique hotel. This meant we did not have any sleep as there was footsteps all night, slamming doors, and every time the bathroom was used anywhere upstairs a sound of a motorised maserator started. In the morning I asked to check out early and they were very pleasant and didn't charge for the second night booked. There was no offer to move us rooms or to try to make it better though. We have stayed at a lot of hotels like this worldwide and it is not quite right - it lets itself down. When they ask you for a review subsequently the hotel doesn't ask what you think of the rooms. It is all service based. Any type of great service will be marred if you have not slept all night. I wouldn't return and if you chose to visit just beware of where you book your suites on site, especially if your expectation is peace and relaxation.

Room tip: Contemporary rooms are noisy as soundproofing is bad between floors.
