What's not to like about Moughton Cottage! It's perfect for a short or long stay in the dales or lakes. The cottage is in a small village, the GameCock pub is two minutes walk away perfect.
The cottage it's self is decorated modern and tastefully done too. The log burner is so easy to use, every night we light the fire. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed. Plenty of cutlery, cups, plates etc so no need to have the dishwasher on too often.
The bedrooms are beautiful, the super king bed was enormous, pillows just right.
Bathrooms all good and the downstairs loo was handy.
The garden is lovely and there was plenty of room of room for parking four motorbikes within the secure gates.
We all loved the cottage and will be back no question!

This gem of a cottage sits in the centre of a picturesque little village in a stunning area of hte Yorkshire Dales, with the local shop/post office and an excellent gastro pub almost on your doorstep. Owner, Kate, has devoted a lot of love and attention to preserving the integrity and character of the cottage. It is spotlessly clean, very cosy and comfortable with all modern amenities, excellent central heating as well as a log fire. Two of our grown up daughters joined us to celebrate a Big Birthday and we absolutely loved both the cottage and the area. Wonderful walks direct from the cottage in various directions, with conveniently positioned tea rooms/cafés with glorious goodies on offer. Convenient road connections and lots to see and do within an hour's drive. Can't recommend it highly enough; suitable for all ages.

“Peaceful and tranquil location!”

The cottage was very spacious and we had some cosy nights by the log fire. The location was fabulous and takes some beating. We had a few days just leaving the car and going on the many walks in the area. Our two boys loved the walks as rabbits and grouse were often seen on various routes; they also loved using the fishing nets in the nearby beck. There is also a small playground, shop and a couple of pubs close to the cottage.

Settle is only 4.5 miles away for shopping and has a Booths, co-op and Spar. Our boys also made use of the swimming pool & had great fun trying to stay on the large inflatable.

Settle has a great range of eateries, gift shops, a couple of antique shops and a very good tourist information centre.

There is also a good children's playground in Giggleswick which is a short stroll from Settle.

We also had a day out on the Settle railway which was the most scenic train journey we had ever experienced; simply stunning.

Other days out included beautiful villages such as Clapham (3 mile walk from Austwick) and Malham Cove.

All in all we found the dales to be quite breathtaking & we will definitely visit again.

“Plenty of space and home comforts”

It's hard to imagine a more comfortable place to stay. A spacious but warm and cosy cottage that's more than enough for a couple and ideal for a small group or family. The pretty garden and big utility room extend the living space, and I was happy to spend as much time in the kitchen with comfortable dining space as I was in the lounge. And because I was beset by a chest infection and house-bound for much of my stay in the Dales, i was very grateful for that comfort and good indoor space, and the efficient central heating, while my aether made use of the good walking direct from the door. The cottage was also really well equipped, the wifi and iPod dock being particularly welcome. We definitely hope to be back sometime soon.

A delightful well-positioned cottage in charming village with useful local shop and excellent gastro pub. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Very peaceful garden, all modern amenities, but with plenty of character. Could not fault it. Lovely owner who even returned lost property. Lots of little touches and even a pint of milk in the fridge. Excellent road connections. Highly recommended! Very relaxing.
