Here's a hotel, restaurant and bar in an out of the way place that delivers a distinctive experience without being pretentious.
It's a country house in a Yorkshire Dales village which you can stay at (12 individual rooms), dine or simply enjoy a drink. Set in formal but unfussy gardens it's ideal on a sunny day or with open fires, a great place to be on a chilly evening.
The staff are very friendly and don't pretend to be a cut-above : their enthusiasm wins the day. The food is first rate and edgy : ox cheek bon bons, a perfect venison confection and a credible small producer cheese board some highly recommended amongst the compact current choice.
It's all unhurried, unique and a delight. Try The Traddock soon if you're after something special.More
