After visiting Hever Castle, we went across the road to Henry 8th pub, but it was closed, so drove along the road, next pub the Greyhound was NOT dog friendly, so went on to next pub which was the Kentish Horse, we were not disappointed, very dog friendly a bowl of water for the dog when we walked in, the food was very good, and reasonably priced.

Terrible meal , far from it's usual standard and very disappointing, will not return again.
Sausages totally cremated, and liver was as tough as old boots and gravy like water.
Complained to waitress about the quality of the food but no offer of replacing it just an apology.
Not informed about the specials on offer and not put on the blackboard.

Popped into this historic Kentish pub for a quick drink on the way through as it looked so beautiful, situated down a leafy country lane near Hever Castle.
Very friendly staff, and loads of locals in the bar, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The pub is so cozy and the the garden is stunning, with beautiful views over the Kent countryside.
If you have children, you must go, as it has a fantastic play area, and you won’t see them for dust, giving you some well earned drinking rest time :)
Didn’t eat there, but it does have a lovely looking restaurant attached to it, which I would love to try one day.
Try this historic pub, you won’t be disappointed, as it’s a real slice of historic Kent.

We decided to use The Kentish Horse for our annual family get-together. 13 adults & 5 children for lunch. The ambiance was very pleasant, service & food excellent. The portions for lunch were enormous!! They is a very good children's play area so the children played after lunch enabling us to catch up on family events.
