We stayed at Windrush over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The house is very warm and welcoming and the rooms really big so we had loads of space. Everything was as per the description, the weather didn’t support going outside which is a shame as the garden is nice and big and ideal for ball games. Would certainly recommend this to other guests.
The images for this property are deceiving! It all looks very inviting but from a recent holiday, our family know otherwise! As for everything being in 'working order' this was not the case. Customer care was also lacking when we got in touch with the agent over things that had not been addressed, things that had been highlighted by previous holiday makers from a couple of years ago!!!!! (Evidence in Guest Book)
Certainly did not warrant the high rates that we had to pay because of the number of things that were wrong with the property! And, no compensation!
To name but a few:
Outdoor Refuse bins overflowing with rubbish.
Oven door did not function properly, door didn't seal and one shelf damaged.
No curtains in attic room.
No trampoline as shown in the pictures.
Climbing ladder broke on second day.
Faulty door frame to garden.
Broken Garden chairs. (One chair broke when our two year old granddaughter sat on it on the first day there)
We stayed here over the new year period. Our group consisted of 5 families (10 adults and 11 children) and the house worked perfectly for us. Not all the bedrooms are that big but with a shuffle around they worked well for us, (2 adults and 2 children in each). Although any more and we might have been a little cosy. The bathrooms, even though not all ensuite worked well also as there was one per family. The best thing about this house is the downstairs space, of which there is ample, (especially with 10 under 8's) there was enough rooms for all to enjoy! The garden is fab also, just a shame it was too wet for us to use it to its full potential - would be a great place to stay in the summer! Thanks to Jamieson for allowing us to stay and to Holly who was fab!!
As the organiser/convener of an annual cricket tour to the Isle Of Wight, I face an annual challenge to find suitable accommodation for a group of 15 middle-aged men. We have stayed in a number of properties of various types over the years, but once we found Windrush we knew we had found our spiritual home on the Isle Of Wight.
The requirements of a cricket tour are reasonably straightforward : plenty of sleeping space, and large rooms to accommodate cooking, eating, drinking and other communal activities such as telly-watching. Windrush has all of this and more. The huge garden allows recreation and adventure for old and young alike. What you really get from Windrush is the sense that you are staying in somwehere really quite special, and this adds an extra dimension to an endeavour such as a cricket tour.
The house meets our needs perfectly - a couple of double bedrooms for those travelling with partners, and a number of rooms with singles for the rank and file. The kitchen lends itself perfectly to post-match carousing, and the dining room has a huge table in it which can seat 20+ people, and is the perfect setting in which to pick over the day's events.
In short, a perfect, idyllic residence in a marvellous location, ideally suited to our requirement - a base for cricket matches we play in Ventnor, Cowes, Brading and Shanklin.

Windrush was a perfect base for our family get together. Having such a large amount of space and loads of bathrooms was a real bonus. The house is really welcoming and nice and close to everything we needed. The children loved the proximity of the beach even out of season. Highly recommended, we will be back.
