Travelling through the New Forest, we stopped at the White Rabbit Lyndhurst for lunch. What a friendly welcome by Fiona who turned out to be the landladies mum. Mine hosts Sophie and Dave were very welcoming and the food was brilliant. My wife commented that her lasagna was the best she had tasted. Definitely worth a visit, you can even leave your car in the car park after you’ve had a drink and lunch to walk around Lyndhurst itself.

Room Tip: Didn’t stay on this occasion but will do if ever were in the area again.

First time we went to the white rabbit despite many visits to lyndhurst.
As soon as we had set foot in the door we were greeted by Dave.
Dave and Sophie made us feel very welcome, looked after us very well
Food was lovely.
Can’t Wait to go back on our next visit.

My Partner and I booked a nice long weekend away, having six children between us and both working full time a weekend away is a big thing to organise. We pulled into the White Rabbit and decided to eat before we checked in. All good so far Dave at reception was brilliant, then we got to our room...….Our hearts sank, to say it needed a revamp was an understatement. The carpet was like something out of an old pub and was very dusty in corners etc the windows were broken and dirty, the walls were all scuffed but the worst thing was the musty smell. The bed was like sleeping on a stone slab (a tad hard). We went to see Dave at reception to see if we could move but they were fully booked, we rang around other hotels but there was no room anywhere. So.… we decided to look at the positives, the sheets were clean the toilet, shower and basin were clean. We actually named our room the Room of Doom and found the funny side of something that could have ruined our weekend. I cannot stress how hard the staff work there and Dave and his team (family as he called them) will go out their way to accommodate your needs. So come on give your rooms a update and the place would be 5*.

The pub looks really lovely from the outside, however, once through the doors, my alarm bells should have turned me around and sent me elsewhere. Staff were polite but not AT ALL smiley. They were just there to carry out tasks not give great customer service. They were not happy to be there!
The menu looked nice but the food was decidedly average. One of the dishes was forgotten (a salad) but it took so long to arrive that the other diners had already finished their meals and when it did arrive, it had no lettuce or dressing! Bland and boring. Didn't complain on the day as i took it as a learning experience to listen to my inner self and initial alarm bells. Paid my bill, never to return.

We had a day at Beaulieu and come back to the White Rabbit for dinner afterwards. The welcome was friendly (we hadn't booked), and we were found a nice table by the window. The staff seemed to be well trained in 'up selling' and we ended up having the beef rib and trio of meats Sunday Roasts, which were all excellent and arrived pretty quickly. The basic Sunday roast is £10, which is pretty reasonable, the beef rib was £14, but really nice, kids meal deal was £6. We also had deserts which were good. Overall the bill for 4 (including one child and a round of drinks) was £72

Hi 37Rycroft,

We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your day at Beaulieu, it's a great place to go, especially at this time of year.

Thank you for taking the time to leave on some comments on your visit to us.

Why not stay here on your next visit to the New Forest as we're a 15 room hotel too!

Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Regards,

Sophie
