As a previous reviewer noted, the apartment pictures are not of the actual apartment, nor is the description accurate.
The term "luxury" should not be used to describe the property, however if you just need a place to sleep, it gets the jobs done.
-The neighborhood is VERY quite, felt safe and I never heard the train.
-There are 2 bedrooms and the 4 beds were comfortable.
-The 2 futon style couch/beds in living room were fine for kids.
-There is 1 off-street parking spot, which is a huge plus.
-Owner lives nearby so if there's an issue he can assist.
-Hot water worked great.
-Heating worked well
-2 full bathrooms was a plus.
-WiFi and TV worked
-There are blinds for privacy on all the windows.
Not so good:
-We were charged extra (cash payment upon arrival) since we had 6 people. This was not stated anywhere in the listing and is not noted if I go through and start a new booking.
-We had to request extra towels, linens and soap, which were brought by owner.
-The apartment has a musty smell that will hit you as soon as you enter.
-The kitchen is very minimally stocked with pots/pans/utensils.
-The apartment is on the ground floor, so no balcony or outdoor area and no park/grassy area in the back, just the parking lot.
-I had to clean out a HUGE mess of hair in the shower drain in order for it to drain.
-Parking spot is great, EXCEPT that it's on the back of the building and we did not have a key to go through the building. So you have to walk all the way around the building to get to your vehicle from the apartment.
Firstly we did not get the flat that we originally booked, it was changed on the day. The flat is described as a City luxury apartment in serene surroundings. It turned out to be in the middle of a mixed ownership estate very close to a very busy railway line. It was furnished poorly, especially in the lounge, the lounge carpet was stained, as was the sofa bed in the lounge. The kitchen floor was filthy, the handle on the inside of the lounge door was missing which meant it had to be propped open to stop the door closing and trapping yourself in the lounge. There was no cleaning equipment, we bought our own, no lampshades in any of the rooms, no fire blanket in the kitchen. The landlord was told of the complaints and came out to see us. He didn't agree with the flat not being luxury and had excuses for all the defects. He didn't feel we had room for complaint. However the next day he rang with an offer of a £50 good will payment which I declined. He raised this to £100 which I declined. He then rang back to offer us a refund of 3 nights rental if we vacated the premises in the next 90 minutes. This was not possible to do as my wife is disabled, and we had plans which would have had to be cancelled if we had returned home. I have reported the matter to Essex trading standards .
