Just stayed for one night, had a room in the barn extension which was lovely - not huge but a separate dressing area so fine overall, especially at the price. Really friendly welcome and a great meal in the restaurant later on, fish and chips recommended. Good breakfast. Would happily stay again.
Just had a wonderful 2 night stay in the Barns at the rear of the main building. Very clean and spacious room . The food was excellent both at breakfast time and evening. Piping hot. The staff were very friendly and polite going out of their way to provide a good service at the head of which was Neal the landlord. Very friendly and jovial making sure our stay was as pleasant as possible . Definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone in fact we will certainly be back again .
We stayed in one of the barn rooms for two nights at the beginning of April. The room was very nice, nice bathroom, large and comfy bed and nice and warm. The breakfast was hearty and we ate in the pub for one of the nights. Food was good and generous portions. All the staff were extremely friendly and pleasant.
This is an ideal place to stay as a gateway to the Lakes.
What a find this place is. From the lovely barn rooms to mine host Neil. A lovely welcoming host, really friendly. Food was freshly made hot and tasty. Breakfast was filling, best bacon and sausages I've had on a holiday , top quality. Room was spacious, very clean . Best bed I've slept in, in a long time. Would have took it home if it would have fit in the car. Nothing too much trouble for them, just had to ask. Quiet location , not disturbed at night even with window open. Plenty of car parking space.
Easy to book direct with Landlord, Barn room offered which is in a new build at the back - lovely room, just don’t turn the cold tap on the sink whilst someone in the shower,
Breakfast good, good poached eggs, although was just a little confused as was asked what we wanted, no menu offered, what exactly could we have had on the full English, not offered more toast, could I have asked for more ? Yoghurts needed to be on ice, not nice at room temperature.
Did not try any other food so cannot comment.
Alcoholic drinks not on the cheap side as only pub in the village.
Spoke to Lanlord about the outer door into the Barn Rooms, as trying to sleep was difficult as other lodgers allowed the door to slam numerously, Niel listened to my tiny complaint and said he would look into adding a polite notice to close the door quietly.
Defo need the car to visit the key places in the lakes, the bus/taxi prices are extortionate.
