Hi was so looking forward to our well earned break
However the hotel was a disappointment!! In need off refit everything looked tired old and shabby!!! 4 star I don’t think so outside the garden furniture looked ready for the tip . Drinks very expensive. Conservatory where breakfast and dinner served windows dirty garden not well cared for. The only positive was the view .

We had a four night stay at Lakeside. Despite difficulties with staff shortages and Covid related restrictions, Marcus and his team are working hard to ensure that their guests enjoy their stay. Buffet breakfast was excellent. We had dinner on two nights, quality of the food was of the usual high standard. This hotel is in the best location and with the weather being glorious we were able to take advantage of the beautiful garden on the edge of Lake Windermere. Thank you Marcus, we will be back soon.

Room tip: Choose a Lake view room.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights with my family, we specifically booked the hotel as it advertised as being dog friendly, the hotel charged £25 per night for the dog which was fine. We had to eat meals in shifts as the dog was not permitted to be with us, we have a toddler so this really wasn’t ideal. We asked if we could eat breakfast outside with the dog and we were told only drinks would be served outside. The only place the dog was allowed was the bedroom.
The service in the hotel was terrible! It took one hour to receive a scone after chasing it 4 times, the hotel wasn’t busy. Very disappointing stay for an expensive hotel.

We booked for a 4 night stay but we were unable to book for dinner in the evenings because of staff shortage. We were given a list of local places to eat which all required us to drive and when we rang the places advised were full. We did point out the problem to the manager and were told that they would view our request for dinner on a day to day basis which left us feeling like 2nd class guests. We were lucky enough to find somewhere else to stay so we left. There is a lack of customer service here.

Our three nights away was booked about a week before September 9th, 2021. Because of ongoing Covid restrictions we had problems getting the accommodation we wanted and were only offered one night dinner. Everything else was booked and the hotel was busy. The dinner we had on the Friday was wonderful. An early booking 18-15, which wasn't ideal. The dinning room overlooks the lake, the main reason we wanted to visit. The standard of dinner, the presentation was first class and we had an enjoyable evening.

Staff try very hard to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The room we had was 310, one of the few available when we booked. It had a side-view of the lake and close to the swimming pool, spa area. We found the room very hot, mainly from the towel rail in the bathroom, which seemed to have a mind of its own. Sometimes we could almost smell towels burning. Despite help from the hotel this couldn't be turned down & we were offered a small fan. The hotel is old, and most of the windows, couldn't be opened, except two small top windows. The room wasn't ideal for the £250 per night payment.

This is the only negative comment about the hotel. Like any people we just wanted to get away for a few nights and mainly the hotel filled our requirements. At the time the staff were wearing masks and visitors were encouraged in public areas to do so. Very few people did however.

Just to add, the swimming pool and spa is a wonderful addition and one of the best pools I have seen. We used it twice each day, during our stay. The ferry to Bowness and on to Ambleside leaves steps away from the hotel. Sitting in the hotel garden, they pass yards from the shore. A wonderful place.

Room tip: If you can, a room overlooking the lake. Lots of customers return to the hotel, so book early. Unlike me!
