Another Great Stay at Paradise Cove

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks ago
Just returned from another amazing stay at Paradise Cove. Thank you to Alfie and all the great staff for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable. The food was sensational and even better than I remember it being last time. Vinaka Vakalevu. We will be back again soon.

No words can do this place justice! You disembark the boat and enter a paradise island and you leave feeling like you're leaving a family behind. The food was next level outstanding, the accomodation beautiful and the service superior. We will be back! Thankyou

Accomodation excellent, restaurant excellent, waitress excellent. We went there in 2017 and the management or ownership must have change. The price regarding the service was down priced and we had the most amazing time. When we went last time we went with our kids and everything has change. The smell on the walk path to the top of island was disgusting, the noise behind our stay house was permanent 24hours in our 5 days stay. The activities was at all include in package and everything was extra. The decking and f the pool was so dangerous with nails sticking out of the boards decking everywhere. So many kids that had t was not anymore paradise it was kindergarten in every corner in f the island. Over crowded booking as we were over 200 peoples. I will not recommend anyone to go there if you want Fiji experience and holiday time with the break needed that you want.
They also lose my baggage when I went back to main island. That time it was really overpriced for the experience expected if you want to go for a good break from crowd and city life.

Room tip: Bring cash with you and get ready to pay more than in Australia for everything

Wonderful location. Beautiful room- the photos on the website just do not do it justice.
We got upgraded to an ocean view villa (from garden) it was just magnificent. The room was so gorgeous and then being able to walk out right into the ocean, was sublime.
The outdoor shower was such a treat.
I cannot express enough how truly magical the room was.

Lots of options for food, which is part of a compulsory meal package, and the food was great.

Few downsides. Kids club was pretty basic and activities were basic. We went outside of school holidays and there were not many kids, so I think this is what made it disappointing for our childen.

All drinks are charged, even bottled water and I suspect milk. You get your complimentary water and milk at the start, but then the rest you pay for. If milk was complimentary, we never got refilled and we never got around to asking.
I hate to be petty, but the filtered water tasted quite bad and I was reluctant to drink it.

The used glasses in rooms were not replaced the entire time we were there.

Interestingly, the staff were not particularly friendly. Some were amazing, but many were either bare minimum friendly or not at all but always polite. This was quite obviously in stark contrast to another place we went to after and also to our experience in general when spending this type of money at resorts/hotels.

Would wait a long time for things that were ordered and/or it would be wrong, or our order hadn’t been placed at all. I just expected the service to be better at that price point.

So I am really in two minds about here. The accomodation is honestly one of the most magical places I have ever stayed at. Large and beautiful and taken care of. And food was excellent.
But some of the negatives were massive negatives.

We have returned to Paradise Cove on many occasions and seen changes each time as the resort evolves. Every time we come back, we wonder if things will be similar allowing us to refresh and relax after the months between of leading a hectic lifestyle.

I will start with the staff including management. If this isn’t right, nothing is in a resort. From the management to the everyday members of the Paradise Cove team they are absolutely fabulous. Everyone went out of their way to make our nine-day trip the very best it could be. Incredible job and it would be very hard to fault the genuine smiles, relaxed atmosphere and everyone’s readiness to help. It is very special.

Accommodation. We opt for a villa including a small plunge pool. As usual it was well equipped and our fantastic cleaning lady went over and beyond to be friendly and leave the room spotless for us to enjoy.

Food. Paradise Cove is not the cheapest – but it is very much an example of you get what you pay for. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner were fantastic. The main menu changes every two days. A stand out are the desserts. Definitely worth indulging and the selection rivals our favorite NZ places for a sweet treat. Presentation beautiful and tastes are outstanding. The staff again go out of their way to make the experience memorable. The only let down for us was the “Fijian tasting menu” there were many courses but no alternatives offered. I would have to say very little was to our taste. If still a Friday night feature meal we would definitely ask for another dining option on future visits.

Kids Club. On this occasional we were not with family but due to a grandchild looking at visiting we took an interest in the changes in this area. Love the varied nightly menu which is served in the kids club. It offers a great alternative and gives parents and other guests a break.

Constructive Criticism. Being an adult couple, travelling for peace and relaxation we did find it hard to get away from younger guests and the associated noise. There are three pools, two in what used to be an adult only area, The Cove, and one near the main restaurant and bar area. I understand that if occupancy was not high when restricted to adults only it is not financially viable to keep it this way. However, during our stay we often found ourselves unable to relax as all three pools were in use by younger, preschool guests. It really does limit the options for honeymoon couples, young couples and older guests, such as ourselves, wanting to relax in peace a quiet. It is a shame there is not a lounging and swimming area designated to give a sanctuary for other guests to enjoy.

Where to from here. For now, Paradise Cove Resort will continue to be our first choice – unless things change and the current fine balance of catering for adult guests and families is ruined. I believe there are talks about a Bar/DJ type structure at the end of the Western beach and I assume close to the peaceful Villas we look forward to booking. If this goes ahead it may appeal to some guests, but we are not convinced it won’t ruin the tranquility of this lovely part of the resort. I genuinely hope this is not the case – only so many different holidaying needs can be crammed in to one resort.

Room tip: All room are of high quality and will depend on budget and needs.

7 beautiful days with our three generations. We had superb weather, wonderful snorkeling, exceptional food, and felt cared for throughout. An excellent place with small children who were very well catered for. Foodies happy and spoilt. I would love to return.

Room tip: Friday night's Fijian devastation menu was awesome
