3 happy generations

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Aug 2024via mobile
7 beautiful days with our three generations. We had superb weather, wonderful snorkeling, exceptional food, and felt cared for throughout. An excellent place with small children who were very well catered for. Foodies happy and spoilt. I would love to return.

If you are looking for that local Fijian experience. Wayalailai is the place! Beautiful island, beautiful people and amazing local Fijian food. 🫶 Out of all the islands I visited it also had the BEST hike where you can see sunrise & sunset. Great for solo travellers and also perfect for family’s. There is limited phone reception giving you that perfect escape to enjoy the island vibes. You can dive, snorkel, learn weaving, local village tour & more. Highly recommend!!

The adults only room we stayed in was very nice and the food generally was good. The friendliness of the staff was mixed. There were a few staff that really stood out but in comparison to the other resorts we have stayed at in Fiji (5) most were polite but not overly helpful or friendly. We selected this resort based on the positive reviews and that fact that you could snorkel with Manta Rays and they had an 5 day 2 tank dive package included with our stay. If you are a serious diver or snorkeler this is NOT the place to go. We only got to snorkel once with the Mantas and it was a free for all and potentially dangerous with many boats from various resorts and private boats moving around snorkelers. At one point when I lifted my head there was a boat motor right beside. The dive operation was dis-organized, poor communication, and I never got the 10 dives that I was entitled to as part of the package I purchased. Their priority was on training new divers making money. They also added the cost of the dive package to my final bill, charging me a second time so thank goodness I took the time to review my bill in detail. Also, sitting and trying to swim in the ocean is difficult and not relaxing as there are MANY boats coming and going right infant of the resort and the adults only beachfront bures. This was not relaxing hearing the motors coming and going and at times idling for no reason not to mention a safety concern if you wanted to swim. You had to go way down the other end ( kids end) of the beach. As another review pointed out, this place has become a family resort with kids taking over both swimming pools at all times of the day, morning and night, so even eating dinner isn't relaxing with kids in the pool that is beside the dining room. We were also surprised on how our suitcases were handled. They threw onto the beach and dragged them across the sand. At the other resort that we stayed at the staff carried them directly onto the resort entrance so they did not get alll full of sand. Needless to say we would not return to this location.

Room tip: Do not go here for diving or snorkeling. Dive operation is extremely poor.

Paradise Cove is a wonderful facility. Staff here are allover, very well trained - service is predominantly exceptional. Dining (7 courses) is of a very high quality. Rooms (we stayed Cove Garden Villa) are of a high standard, daily maintenance excellent. An exceptional Japanese restaurant (Donu) operates for lunch and dinner - Ade and Sarki with great culinary skills - make sure you book. Facility is comparatively as good as any in Fiji

Room tip: Make sure you book for Japanese dining

Second visit over a couple of years. Is always good to be there. We have enjoyed both visits. Good all round staff. Do heaps or do nothing. Snorkeling is excellent off beach. We felt the food wasn’t as good this year as last but still ok. We struck our timing wrong as it was very busy with a lot of children. Wasn’t a major but would be nice if there was a designated pool for adults only. Place is starting to require some maintenance. In saying this, we will return.

Room tip: Helicopter is a great way to get there and a great experience

We have vacationed at Napili kai on Maui for over 30 years. Been to Bermuda, Caribbean, Australia, Florida the Amalfi coast and this by far is the winner for an amazing relaxing holiday.

We had room 47 our house keeper Louisa was like family and we were both sad that we had to leave each other. The service was second to none. Knox was amazing we went and got beers and wine and he carried it to our room. He took care of us all 5 days. We miss you Knox

We had two misses at diner blackrock the restaurant where they just forgot what course and did not bring the next course until we went and asked someone. I did bother the GM the second night after diner and he was eating and took my complaint seriously. Sorry I bothered your meal.

Donu is one of the best meals we ever had in out life. If we saw 8 people at our end of the beach a day it was a traffic jam.

Don't hesitate to book it it is almost too good to be true

When we initially booked our trip to Paradise Cove, we expected to have a lovely vacation but we never expected to have the kind of cultural immersion/experience that we had that had us crying as we left. We travelled from California with our two very active boys, ages 12 and 15. From the moment we spotted the island, we were enamored. Stunning. We did all the typical tropical water activities - snorkel (great snorkeling right off the beach in front of the hotel), kayaking, SUP, trampoline in the middle of the ocean. We even swam with the manta rays during their annual migration (this was pure magic). But then we got to know the hotel staff and that is when our vaca turned from really nice to remarkable. We went to the neighboring island to the Soso village and met the chief and played soccer with the kindergarteners during their recess. The next day, we went Handline fishing and went to a deserted island where they cooked our fish on a rock. All the while learning about the Fijian culture and way of life. The resort is luxurious, the amenities are wonderful, the rooms for a family of 4 are perfect, the food was truly incredible. And while the accolades of this resort are top notch from discerning travelers, it is the staff who make this resort an absolutely incredible experience. We expected to go to Fiji once after crossing it off of our bucket list but we are already planning our next trip to Fiji and specifically Paradise Cove.
(Side note, the Paradise Cove website is ok but doesn’t really show off how incredible the resort grounds and amenities are).
Highly highly recommend Paradise Cove.
