An incredible snorkeling experience but be aware of the greedy resort attitude

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jul 2024via mobile
The most beautiful location for off the beach snorkeling, an incredible reef and Cristal clear water, beautiful surroundings.

Be aware that the compulsory meal plans are very expensive, and that the resort has a greedy attitude, you pay for the coffee at lunch time (whilst included in morning and at night)

We paid for 2 soft drinks they forgot to put on our bill, we got charged the next day for a rotten orange juice you could not drink. I complained - without success.

We booked a snorkeling trip for FJD 40, they charged us FJD 120 as we saw some mantra rays. They falsified our booking slip without our permission.

If you are looking for that local Fijian experience. Wayalailai is the place! Beautiful island, beautiful people and amazing local Fijian food. 🫶 Out of all the islands I visited it also had the BEST hike where you can see sunrise & sunset. Great for solo travellers and also perfect for family’s. There is limited phone reception giving you that perfect escape to enjoy the island vibes. You can dive, snorkel, learn weaving, local village tour & more. Highly recommend!!

We stayed here for 7 nights. Room was located in the cove and it was amazing, bathroom was next level. Super clean!
The food was exceptional, meals were such a high standard, more than what we are use too.
The snorkelling off the beach was one of the best we've seen.
The staff were the best highlight of the island, the laughs we had every day, friendliness, kava ceremonies and the beautiful singing..we left our stay feeling like we had gained a whole lot of friends.

Paradise Cove is aptly named!
The beautiful environment and the fabulous team at Paradise Cove make your whole experience memorable for all the right reasons.
Nothing is too much trouble and it doesn’t matter whether you just want to laze by one of three pools or go out for the many activities - your choice is ok with them.
One of the things I really liked about our time there is that it is a relatively small resort and, as such, very relaxed and you got to meet and chat with other guests. At the bigger resorts this can be more difficult and, as a widow, I found this feature particularly enjoyable.
Now I do need to mention the food. This was an unexpected delight. I had read the reviews but, to be honest, was not expecting too much as in other trips to Fiji I had found the food disappointing. This was certainly not the case at Paradise Cove. Go hungry!!
We enjoyed ourselves so much we are already planning our return trip. Thank you everyone at Paradise Cove. We look forward to coming back soon.

Wow, the snorkeling is amazing at Paradise Cove. The Yasawa islands in FIJI are for anyone who loves snorkeling and beach holidays. Despite not seeing any Manta Ray’s (which was our primary motivation for visiting paradise cover) my husband and I had terrific time at Paradise Cove and plan to return.

Snorkeling

Paradise Cove has a very healthy house reef. It was amazing to swim each day straight from the beach. You can swim on any tide; you just need to be careful on low tide & go in from an area beside the reef to get out into deeper water then swim across the reef.
In addition, there are daily snorkeling trips on a boat to various other reefs to explore. The resort will vary the reefs daily.
The snorkeling was truly magic.

Accommodation
We loved our Paradise Bure, it was roomy and ideal for a beach holiday. I would highly recommend staying in these Bures.

Service
Our appreciation goes to Josh (dinner service) Leisa (housekeeping) who were genuine and exceptional in their service delivery. Sadly, we also had some average service, were we felt like an inconvenience.

Activities
Besides the snorkeling, we enjoyed walking daily to the lookout. The gym is surprisingly good for an island resort. There is Yoga daily and other activities on offer.
The spa offers a range of services which we enjoyed twice throughout our stay.

Food
The food wasn’t for us. They have a 6-course compulsory menu. That said, they changed a few things to make it work for us which we appreciated.
We had a private BBQ one night, which we wished we did more as it was perfect. The food was delicious, the service was better than we could have imagined with a personal waiter & chef who serviced and cooked outside our Bure. This was very special!

We would definitely recommend Paradise Cove. The snorkeling, bures and activities make this place well worth visiting. It is a truly amazing resort. Yes, there were a few thinks that could have been improved for us, but they weren’t big in the overall scheme of the holiday. Finally, we would highly advocate getting to Paradise Cove by Island Hoppers. The helicopter is a fast way to getting to Paradise Cove while flying over the crystal blue water with reefs scattered all the way out to the resort.

Spent last 8 nights in Fiji. First 4 Nanuku (amazing hospitality) and last 4 Yasawa, dividing time between Oarsman Bay (cave tour), Paradise Cove and Waya Island (newest resort).

Overall, Paradise cove is by far the nicest. Upgraded from Garden Burre to One bedroom oceanfront suite upon arrival. The room was very nice, huge and lovely bathroom, and complimentary mini bar with soda and beer. WiFi and AC worked great.

The beach area is calm and serene. Excellent snorkeling. Pool and bar area nice as well.

The meal plan is compulsory or mandatory. The price is egregious per person at 259 FJD and coupled with hotel pricing would make me reconsider visiting the Yasawa in the future. I can stay at many 5 star all inclusive resorts and have an equal to better experience. Drinks aren’t included so you can easily spend 400/500 per day on food and beverage. Breakfast and lunch are single menu item orders and if you are hungry, pay up for more!

Bottom line is the resort is very nice and if I were to return to Yasawa, this is the spot. Many reviews leave out details and I try to be transparent.

Room tip: The Japanese omikase is quite nice although you may be hungry afterwards
