I was only able to spend one night at The Carrier Houses B&B....and would loved to have stayed longer. Jim & Russell are excellent hosts! My every need was met and the accommodations were very comfortable. The breakfast meal was outstanding. I loved the location....downtown with everything within walking distance. I'm just back home, but already trying to plan another visit to this special place.

What great comments, thanks! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Carrier Houses and our quaint downtown. Breakfast is fun for us to prepare since we have so many local farms where we can get fresh eggs, sausage and vegetables. We look forward to your return as well....see you soon!!

This was our second time to stay at Carrier Houses but our first with new owners, Jim and Russell. They are absolutely wonderful and so knowledgeable of the Carrier Houses' history. They beam with pride when talking about their new adventure. The rooms are fabulous and very comfortable for relaxing. Decorated with period furniture, that is comfortable, yet in keeping with the time of the houses. Breakfast was a full three course delight, each of the three mornings we were there. Free WiFi and self parking were a definite plus. I can't wait to return, although I feel that we'll have to book well in advance once word gets out about how great Jim and Russell are making this place.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a "bad" room in either house.

Cindy and Roger,

Thank you so much for your kind remarks and it was our pleasure to have you all as our guests for three nights. Meeting people like you is why we love what we do and I am glad that it shows. We feel so privileged to live and work in homes that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and so full of history with antique and period furniture yet comfy, like visiting Grandma's! Thank you too for the embroidered aprons and kitchen towels. What a nice surprise. We look forward to when you can come back and see us again. I'll create some new breakfast items for you!!

We were in town for a memorial service for our Mom who had lived most of her life in Rutherfordton. Since she had spent the last four years in Cary, NC to be close to family, we didn’t have a home in town. We had seen the Carrier Houses on prior visits and always thought they looked interesting and historical so we made a reservation. Russell and Jim welcomed us to their beautiful inn and immediately made us feel at home. After we walked to dinner at one of their recommendations, we came back to our beautiful, spacious room in the main house and enjoyed a relaxing evening on the balcony. The next morning, we had a delicious breakfast in the dining room, enjoying the conversations with Russell and Jim about the houses and their journey to find their bed and breakfast. When our family started arriving for the service, Russell and Jim opened their porch and parlor to us so we could have a place to gather before we walked over to the church. Our Mom would have loved these hosts and that we had a wonderful place to be together in her town. We will always remember our time at the Carrier Houses and the hosts, including Ranger and Watson!

Marcia and Rick,

Thank you so much for your kind remarks which reaffirm our decision to make career changes and purchase the Carrier Houses B&B. We enjoy so much meeting you and your family and are glad that you found the Carrier Houses as a respite from planning your mom's memorial service. It would have been nice to meet your mom as she was spoken of so highly at church on Sunday morning. We hope to see you again soon. Again, thank you.

We spent a weekend at the Carrier House, our first at a B & B, were so pleased with the welcome and excellent treatment from our gracious hosts, Jim & Russell. The spacious rooms & parlors of the houses cry out for folks to sit around and visit and relax. Breakfast was exceptional and we plan to stay again, just to visit and hang out.

The individual attention provided by Jim and Russell is beyond fantastic. My husband and I have met some awesome, gracious hosts and hostesses before but none who have put forth more personal effort to meld with their community, its history and offerings than these guys. No one is a stranger in this home! The rooms were terrific, the bathroom luxurious, and we will stay again.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are so glad that you both had a great time and yes, everyone leaves as a friend that we hope to see again. Even though we have been here less than a year, we have immersed ourselves in the area to know where to send a guest looking for dining, shopping or other experiences. Thanks again for your remarks and look forward to seeing you again.
