We stayed here for one night as we left early. One night was enough.

I have to say the staff was exceptionally nice and the breakfast was big and quite tasty - so the two stars. But otherwise this hotel is nothing I would recommend to anyone.

First, no elevator so if you have a room higher than the first floor and bring luggage, a stroller or are somewhat slow on foot - you are lost. We stayed in a room on the third floor and couldn't take our luggage and stroller up as it would have taken us 3 rounds each check in and checkout.

Second, the hotel looks like right out of Erich Honeckers living room. You could say DDR nostalgia but we found it just ugly.

Third, tiny tiny bathroom without a window where you couldn't even turn around without bouncing your head.

Last but not least as this was the main reason we left early: it crazy loud. Right in front of a train station so you would literally feel and hear every single train. I jumped up in bed several times and so did our baby. Terrible night.

As said before, nice staff and nothing bad to say about the breakfast but this was a terrible hotel experience.

Ps it was very clean though as others mentioned before so if you don't care about the rest and have a solid sleep and oropax - go for it!

After a day of sight seeing in Dresden we began driving toward our next destination of Prague, but decided to spend the night in Pirna rather than drive too late. We picked out this hotel based on reviews we saw here on Trip Advisor. It was showing several rooms still available and seemed like a great option. When we walked in to book the room, the man at the front desk seemed annoyed by us being there, despite it still being 40 minutes before the website showed the front desk closed. While our lack of speaking German definitely didn't help matters, he made no effort to try to communicate with us, and rudely gestured that there were no vacancies.

While I wish that I could rate this hotel based on all of it's attributes, even if it was the Ritz Carlton on the inside, completely unprofessional service would negate all of that.

We wanted to stay near to Dresden, but not actually in the town and were delighted with
Pirna. This hotel is incredibly comfortable, incredibly clean, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. Oh, and it is right opposite the station meaning that Dresden is just twenty minutes away. (It's also lovely at the end of a long and tiring day's sightseeing to get off the train and see the hotel just across the road.) In fact, what's not to like??

Room tip: OK, it's a bit noisy - there is a busy main road outside, but the hotel itself more than compensates for the noise.

Hotel with good rooms in the downtown of Pirna very close to railway station. It is ideal for visiting the town, for Dresden visitors and for visitors of wonderful Swiss Saxony. It has own nearby free parking, a little bit difficult to find with car without GPS. Hotel is situated on busy street, with very good noise isolation. Staff is very friendly. Hotel and rooms are clean, renovated few years ago.

Room tip: Hotel has 4 single rooms

We enjoyed our stay at this great hotel last Saturday. We came for a last minute weekend and hoped to stay in the centre of Dresden but nearly all the hotels were booked up. However, this was a perfect alternative. The train into Dresden was just across the road which takes 20 minutes and runs every 30 minutes until 23:30 – 4 euros one way (http://www.dvb.de/en). We decided to stay Pirna for the evening though and enjoyed a Chinese buffet nearby and a walk into the old town to explore the Christmas market.

Our room was excellently presented and very clean with a modern flat screen TV. The room was at the front of the hotel and there was the odd rumble when a train went past but it did not disturb us. The breakfast buffet was good too and served until 10.30.

If we decide to explore the area more then we’d definitely go back to Hotel Saechsischer Hof.
